    Night Sky and camera filtration

Hi Andrew, this may help:http://www.astronomik.com/en/clip-filter-fur-canon-vollformat.html These CLS filters work very well on narrowband lighting, that is the ones that give an orange light, but They will not help cutting pollution from full spectrum lights such as the LED ones now be fitted...

    Editing night sky images

I'm not sure, but you may have Live View on your camera? If so, you can zoom on to a bright star and focus to a pin point (it will almost 'disappear'). Once you have focus, turn off AF. See if that works. You might find it useful to join a local astronomical group. There are a number in the...

    Editing night sky images

As for your photo, It looks pretty good for a start......I know how difficult it can be to get decent astro images in our location. Your focussing looks OK. Nothing worse than spending ages getting your shot and finding the stars are blobs! Keep the exposure under 30 seconds, otherwise the sky...

    Canon 1000d Noise?

I have owned and used a 1000D for a few years now, and noise only becomes a 'problem' when shooting long exposures in low levels of light. More expensive, high end cameras, handle high ISOs much better, but noise can be acceptable under certain shooting conditions. Enjoy your 1000D, Chas, it's a...

    Just saying .... Hello

Just a bit about me..... I've been a snapper (never a photographer) since I was about 12. My first real camera was a Miranda F SLR, which cost me £80 quid (when a good wage was £20 a week). I borrowed the money from my brother and finished paying him back last week. I eventually wore out the...
