To be fair to Hurley, he doesn't light male subjects like this. Women, yes, he blasts with three or four lights. For men he lights from one side generally, to create the character in the image. You need to 'squinch' more too ;).

I reviewed and deleted at the end of each day as I only had two 64 Gb memory cards with me and was shooting raw only. That's what was left as keepers. There were so many opportunities for shots, the hotel was photography heaven, the markets, a trip to the coast where Hitchcock filmed The Birds...

Enjoying following your journey Simon and these all work for me, and are certainly in keeping with the style of the shots you see of the era in question. Given how the photographers were working, maybe <12 shots on a roll of film, no 'chimping' back then, guessing where the lights might work...

Crazy busy with the day job Kris, that's basically it. These were rare shots of Lorna - as her family didn't not know she smoked at the time, and she really does need to be in the right mood for a shot to be taken. She'd done her makeup, the light looked great. Her parents know she smokes now...
