You have to live your own life(s) I hate to be brutal but your mother isn't going to live forever, much as we want them to. You could stay near her but are you then going to end up resenting not moving?

Alan that is far to simplistic of an answer. I won't go into reasons, but let's just say she has two very good friends one works for the probation service and the other gave up being a social worker because of all the child abuse cases she had to prepare for court.

I fully support my daughters stance as I know where her concerns come from. It is not if we haven't got photos of him as he grows up, just that they are not on social media.

Yes it is. I have a grandson, who although I have several hundred photographs of him the only one in social media is me holding him as he looks at some wildlife so you can't see his face. My daughter is rightly concerned about how children's photo's can be used.

Have just completed a survey for Motorsport UK one of the questions is what other activities do yo do. Photography wasn't a tick box option, the nearest was creative arts. Especially as MSUK have run several competitions for photography.

I don't think photography is dying at all, But as a "hobby" maybe. What I mean by that, is that with modern phones able to take some fantastic shots and built in editing as well, is there any need to "learn the art"?

My Canon 500D does al I am capable of doing. Have never seen the need to upgrade.

To be fair, I don't know anyone now who doesn't use a "photo booth" so much easier, and often cheaper in the long run. If £10 makes a holiday expensive, then maybe choose a different holiday.

So are you now going to start a thread for every word, that in it's use somehow offends you. I find your use of some words inappropriate, yet here we are. I don't see how you can be offended because a word is used in the "wrong" context. Mildly irritated, slightly miffed off, a bit peeved...

Perhaps some of us need to to stop calling people ignorant just because they don't use a word how they think it should be used.

I do agree with how "text speak" is used now, but that is different to the word the OP used. To be honest the main thing that concerns me, is the this threads title. It is not ignorance because people don't use a word in the way you want them to.
