    A Perch and a Grebe

Great shot ! I know from experience they can be a real pain to expose properly and the eye colour goes as soon as you crop or raise the ISO, so great job.

    Wild Little Egret

Thats a bit worrying....I just screenshoted the page and pasted it into photoshop, by darkening it I could see no highlight information was lost..........Its a white bird in direct light, so I have processed it as white, but there is no clipping on the histogram.

    Wild Little Egret

I have been tracking this Egret for a while now... he is not keen on people but I think I am slowly earning his trust. Still holding out for a shot of him catching something other than flies ! Egret by Nature Ist, on Flickr Egret_Flight by Nature Ist, on Flickr Stalking_Egret2 by Nature Ist...

Small birds in Flight, a bit of advice needed

Hi Guys, I have been reasonably successful at shooting larger birds in flight, Hobbies and Herons are my current favourites, and I am trying to up my skill set into shooting smaller birds in flight. I have been shooting small birds leaving their perch as it seems to be the only way to catch...

    Wild Winter Heron shots

I have been tracking some herons at my local lakes, it takes a lot of patience as they like to sit still for a long time, but I just love seeing them in flight. It has been good practice for my fieldcraft trying to get close to them as they are not fond of humans, even if the light has rarely...

    Wild Goldfinch eating Cottongrass

I think you are right, I went back through the shots and he is sort of teasing out the cotton grass, but I don't see any swallowing. I guess that means there is a nest nearby.

    Wild Goldfinch eating Cottongrass

I have spent about 6 hours over 3 days tracking these Goldfinches, they are very wild, very fast and very small. I got lucky today, this one landed about 12 meters from me, and then posed for me whilst eating some cottongrass. Comments and Criticisms welcome as always ! GoldFinch_CottonGrass1...

    Beginner D3200 - Bird/Wildlife photography

If you could put the D7100's DR and the D7200 high iso sensor into a 7D II body it would be perfect. For some reason Nikon don't want to make the D400 everyone is crying out for. I would say the 7DMKII has "enough" DR and iso performance to make some very nice pics and autofocus and...

    Beginner D3200 - Bird/Wildlife photography

I have a D3200 - the four limitations are AA filter, preventing full use of pixel density, noise about ISO 800 starts to impact dynamic range, The Viewfinder is small and dark, and the Autofocus system leaves a lot to be desired. The D7100 solves all those problems apart from the noise above...

what is or would be your favourite macro lens(nikon fit)

Well, I borrowed my friends copy of the Nikon 105, and spent some time doing some back to back tests, using a pair of flashes in manual slave mode to keep the light consistent. Turns out you are right Richard, the Tokina is not really f16 ! - the apparent sharpness boost is due to the aperture...

5Ds R Chestnut Munia (Lonchura atricapilla)

I am glad its not just me that thinks that, sure there is better to come from that combination.

    ISO 7200 - D750

Ok that looks a lot more like my expectations ! Dammn impressive at that iso even so, its pure witchcraft !

    ISO 7200 - D750

All I can see is a 314KB 900px on the long edge picture due to this forums image settings- it is very clean indeed ! - however downsampling *is* noise reduction - we are only seeing 314kb out of the original 24576kb RAW file, that's only 1/78th of the data . If you put the full size untouched...

    ISO 7200 - D750

Are *sure* there is no noise reduction on that ? Is it downsampled ? Every RAW image of the D750 I have looked at past 6400 has quite a bit of croma noise in the blacks, your image has none, even in the eye....
