Hmm looking on the larger flickr image at work it's a possibility that the vignette applied has darkened the blacks too...
There was only a hint of mist in the air so I ditched my plan to go Wistmans and went to Bellever Forest instead. Bellever has some clear areas of Pine but they are quite hard to find at times with new trees coming down on a regular basis. This was probably the best of the images that morning...
These are lovely Martin, really beautifully handled in post too. I'm biassed because these images are to my taste but I'd honestly say they were both in your top 5 images imo, they really classy, tonally they are spot on!

I don't mind this kind of style if the composition suits it but on this occasion, I don't think it works. Its quite a complex scene and unfortunately the dark processing makes it hard to view without a clear focal point and the eye hunts around and unfortunately settles on the brighter rocks as...
I'm all for creative processing, these though are several steps too far imo. I get the fact you want them contrasty/grungy but there are areas of D&B that are brutal and just don't work imho, there are also halo's and banding throughout which is a sign they have been pushed too much too fast...
