is there an alternative to BTs connection engineer fee of £125?

I do work hard for your info. With expected clears of at least 3 jobs per day, plus travel to jobs in the area i cover, which can include anywhere from the top of Bude over to Minehead, and as far across as Lynton right over to Buckland St.Mary (have a look if you think it's a small patch)...

is there an alternative to BTs connection engineer fee of £125?

We do NOT just flick a switch. The exchange work is done a couple of days beforehand by an exchange engineer. This way the line is live for the engineer to work on. We then visit the cabinet and prove the line is working to this point. The we go to the DP, usually close to your house and...

is there an alternative to BTs connection engineer fee of £125?

As a BT engineer, i can tell you both, these statements are completely incorrect. Even if there is a line to your house it not as simple as "Flicking a switch in the exchange", and a line that has been ceased half away along the length can still contain voltage. The blow test, will only...

Ahhh the joys of Service Providers and Ofcom forcing BT to sell off parts of it's network because the "PUBLIC" claimed we had the monopoly ;)

    Help centres

Don't forget, they word the adverts and contracts very carefully by saying you will get "UPTO 20mb", this means it can range from 56k right upto 20mb.;)

580EX II vs a bunch of tiny flashguns

Yes and No. When you group lights, you have to remember the Inverse Law (?) For every two flashes you use, you will gain one stop of light. So two will be one stop, four will be two stop and so on. NB, i'm not 100% on the name of the law, but i think the principles i have outlined are fairly...

    horses on the road

This is really sad. But on the other hand, as mentioned by COBRA, some riders do think themselves indestructable. I live on exmoor, so have a good amount of contact with horses and riders. The main frustration that is caused around here, is the lack of use of bridal paths. In Exford, a...

Few from playing around on mountain bikes.

The last one is quite cool, shame about the other rider and the pole, other than that, it shows the speed well, and the action.

Need black drinking straws to make a 'black straw' snoot?

If you can get hold of Neoprene from a model or craft shop, that stuff is great for grids and snoots, just add sticky velcro and away you go, best bit is, it is a little stretchy so more resistant to tearing than card;) I got 5 sheets for £5 from our local card makers shop.
