I like that a lot! Maybe a longer shutter speed would have tidied up the water but probably would have then messed up the clouds - which are great.

    Nikon D850 - Owners Thread

My dad has a Z7 and it is nice but i do not like the EVF. It is great to see the histogram in the viewfinder but i dont like the look of it - if the Z7, Z7ii had something like the fuji cameras where you can swap between evf and ovf it may have been a different story.

    Nikon D850 - Owners Thread

I have also just got a d850 which I wondered about the sense of as mirrorless seems to be the way forward, but as good as an evf is i can't get away with it using one yet and there is the additional expense of the memory card and adapter. My last camera was a d800 and lasted 10 years so i may...

    Photographing your own children...the challenge!

That is really helpful - I have an umbrella and was interested in trying this - I may give it a go this year as these are superb.

The lighting in these is lovely. I love 1 and especially 4. The only minor thing for me is that you can't see both feet - which probably sounds a bit weird but it was just something i noticed. A great set of photographs though - I wish I could get anything near this quality of my kids.

Best wide angle lens - Nikon Full Frame

It also depends on how wide you want to go. 18-35 on a cropped sensor is like 29 - 52mm ish equivalent on the D700. The 17-35 2.8 is o.k but relatively expensive. I have not used the 16-35 and have heard mixed things about it and it is f4. If you have used a zoom before a prime may not be...

Really lovely image. I have to say that the stone the right hand side makes it for me.

    Nikon D800......

Every year I go to Roseberry Topping is exactly the same, no clouds. Apart from last year when it rained. This year, for a change, too much cloud. Roseberry Topping by Neil, on Flickr

    Nikon D800......

I am not sure about that - you can get more detail out by sharpening the D800 file, but then if you sharpen the D810 file the same, the D810 still looks sharper. To be fair though unless you are printing massive prints, i don't think that the difference is huge.
