A few more from my Kingfisher fishing collection. Still havnt got the shot I'm after yet. Coming up proves to be fairly hard to get sharp images, going down is proving VERY hard, even at 8000 of a sec.

After many months of careful planning and preparation and with the breeding season over, its time to get back to trying to get shots of Kingfishers catching fish. These are my current attempts using ambient light.
A very good example of the narrow depth of field that we have to work with when using longer focal lengths at close quarters. Its a shame that other members do not fully understand DOF and yet feel qualified to make ( unjustified ) comments.

Image shot in a fairly busy car park with lots of cars, people, kids and dogs. The bird didnt seem to mind at all, allowing me to park right next to it and obtain full frame images.
My username is a throwback to my film days. I still have the camera and will never part with it......... havnt used it for years though.
The first image was shot on a D300 with a Nikon 70-200vr, the second shot was on a D3 with the Nikon 24-70.
