    Beginner Spot metering and such.

Well yes and no, I knew that if I put the spot on the white clouds it would show the shadows on the left, it worked. The building in the centre, which I did not even think about came out mid tone clean and sharp., nice surprise. The white car in the foreground I never though about that either...

Proper printer. which one, what would you buy.

No I have not, I have heard about doing this, but never realized I would have to do it. Another thing I need to think about, I may get the printer tomorrow ! Just been into the settings on my laptop and found the calibration tools. I was sort of scared to try and do any adjustment with it...

    Beginner Spot metering and such.

Evening. Yes I know its not a very suitable subject for such a venture but to me it was worth while as my attempt a couple of years ago in the world of fly tying were dismal, the flies were decent but the photographs were not doing anyone any favours. So there is improvement in it for me...

Proper printer. which one, what would you buy.

This might sound wrong, but I have been looking at printers for a few days now, the usual places, and on you tube. Shopped about and found most have pros and cons. Ok I keep seeing the Canon Pixma ix6850, and always positive things about it. Its hard to believe because its not expensive at all...

    Beginner Spot metering and such.

This is a very rough first attempt, spot metering, hand held just on the window sill and quite a rough and ready fishing fly. I think if I get a tripod and do a few adjustments with the camera it will get better. Not to mention tie a nicer fly. This is just a rough start to see what happens...

    Beginner Spot metering and such.

Own a couple of small pocket cameras, one is a canon Powershot SX240 HS, which I used for years as a point and shoot when I am fishing. Its been in the river a couple of times over the years and its a bit battered. Now that I have a far better idea about cameras, I have had a second look at this...

    Beginner Spot metering and such.

Yes I have now discovered metering and in particular spot metering. This was due to me watching a video by Richard Brockwell on shooting the highlights which really brough the shadows in Black and white photographs. Up to this point I have been using centre weighted metering for everything. 1...

    Watameter.

I have been using it, just testing it and it looks great when its all lined up, nice and clear and getting the ghost image to line up with the actual image is fine, going to do a few shots this weekend using a GB Kershaw 630. I am going to use a tripod for this and the cable remote shutter.

Proper printer. which one, what would you buy.

I still have not purchased a printer, recently missed out on a Canon pixma iP8750 from a club member. Perhaps I should have been quicker with my offer to buy in this instance. Some one has given me bits of kit, a couple of film scanners, which is great, but I still need to print. A4 is too...

    Watameter.

I know it is old, it suits the 1950s Kershaw camera I put it on, have not taken any photographs with the aid of the Watameter so far. We have done some calculations in the house, the wife was very helpful, so a coffee mug on a table measured at 3.5 feet, and with the tape measure the watameter...

    Watameter.

Watameter ! Just bought one to go with my Kershaw 630, it appears to work, it still needs to be calibrated but its not far off. Will it help me, well I don't know. Do any of you fellows use of have used one ?

Beginner A beginners first proper adventure, and when are you no longer a beginner?

I need to get back there, its not far away from where I am, its derelict house and barn where there appears to be, what must have been party's etc. Still it was on one of my first trips away from the village, where I went on what I would call an adventure.

Beginner A beginners first proper adventure, and when are you no longer a beginner?

I am now of the opinion that I am a beginner, but I do know a lot more than I did which makes me a novice. Confidence for me is far higher than it was, included in that is the fact when my photographs are judged at the club level, I am not hurt and take on board what has been said about my...
