Going back to my earlier 70-200 posts, I managed to pick up a 70-200 f4 in very good condition but minus a tripod collar for £600 - at that price I thought it worth a try, though I suspect it’ll ultimately be a stop gap until I can afford/justify a 70-200 GMii!
Looking forward to having a play...
That might be worth checking out, particularly if combined with the 85 1.4. I also noticed that it’s included in the Sony summer cash back offer with £200 cash back, so a new one might be comparable to used prices.
That would be a great solution, but realistically I’d only get £100 to £200 from the swap of 85mm lenses, which isn’t enough to bridge the gap between the two 70-200s.
I should also have stated that I’m looking at used, so could get the 70-200 mk1 for around £1300, versus over £2k for a used or...
The Tamron is attractive for the price, but what puts me off is the extending barrel when zooming, and the lack of OSS. I’ve also seen reports that it’s tracking for sports isn’t as good as the 1st party lenses. I can’t help thinking that if I bought it, I’d end up swapping it out after 6-12 months
Interested in opinions - I’m thinking of buying a 70-200 f2.8, and want to stick to Sony lenses.
I mainly shoot portraits, a bit of sport, and the rest landscapes and family photography.
I can either sell my 85mm gm and get the 70-200 gm ii, or keep the 85mm gm and get the 70-200 gm i...
They did, though HDdvd was Toshiba - Sony developed Blu-ray.
You could equally argue that Sony has tried to innovate but sometimes backed the wrong horse - Betamax lost to VHS, mini discs were better than cassettes but MP3 came along too soon etc. They adopted the same approach with mirrorless...
Great stuff.
I know what you mean about the 500 shot. A slightly lower angle, avoiding the foreground on the left and cropping just to the left of the rear wheel would be awesome.
Keep him shooting!
Wondering whether Zeiss are gradually pulling away from mirrorless lenses - the Batis and Loxia lineups are great but quite old now, they’ve not released anything for a long time.
Coincidence that coffee machines are the topic of conversation I’ve just replaced my ageing Nespresso machine with a Sage Barista Express Impress. Loving it so far!
