    Puffins re-visited....

Thanks Russ, that is very interesting. I have also used Topaz Denoise AI in the past and was initially very impressed but then it started seriously messing up the colours and I stopped using it. Have you noticed any colour issues? I was always processing the raw file in Denoise first because...

    Puffins re-visited....

Excellent set of shots Russ. They are fantastic birds and always great to photograph. Did you change much when you re-processed them? During lockdown I have re-processed a lot of my previous shots and generally they have turned out noticeably better for a number of reasons. Paul

Thanks gramps. I agree about the wire, I think it works for me. Already heavy crops!

Male Cuckoo perched on concrete post

Thanks Jeff :) I actually like the barbed wire, I think along with the concrete it gives a nice contrast with the soft feathers of the bird. Also these are already heavily cropped and cropping further will probably start to affect the IQ.

    First Long-eared Owl

Hi Mike, Thanks for all the comments, they are much appreciated. I will watch out for you and be sure to say Hi. I don't like to make excuses but in this case one of the legs was really stuck on my tripod and this owl turned up while I was still setting up. So I had to grab this shot...

    First Long-eared Owl

Thanks Phil much appreciated (y) Yes it was me. I thought the birder might be you because he was shooting a D500 and 150-600 but when I asked if he was on TP his response was "I'm not a photographer, I'm a birder" I very much enjoyed chatting with him and he was a decent bloke too...

    Wild Male Kestrel hovering

Thanks Russ (y) You may be right about the focus missing. The light was not great and it's a heavy crop so it is not the best IQ but I was reasonably happy with the result.

    Wild Short-Eared Owl Encounter

Thanks Phil - much appreciated. I also felt unsure about the oof grass but decided there was enough detail in the shots to balance it out. :) Great info on differences between the males and females (y)
