Thanks Russ, that is very interesting. I have also used Topaz Denoise AI in the past and was initially very impressed but then it started seriously messing up the colours and I stopped using it. Have you noticed any colour issues? I was always processing the raw file in Denoise first because...
Excellent set of shots Russ. They are fantastic birds and always great to photograph.
Did you change much when you re-processed them? During lockdown I have re-processed a lot of my previous shots and generally they have turned out noticeably better for a number of reasons.

Thanks Jeff :) I actually like the barbed wire, I think along with the concrete it gives a nice contrast with the soft feathers of the bird. Also these are already heavily cropped and cropping further will probably start to affect the IQ.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for all the comments, they are much appreciated.
I will watch out for you and be sure to say Hi.
I don't like to make excuses but in this case one of the legs was really stuck on my tripod and this owl turned up while I was still setting up. So I had to grab this shot...
Thanks Phil much appreciated (y)
Yes it was me. I thought the birder might be you because he was shooting a D500 and 150-600 but when I asked if he was on TP his response was "I'm not a photographer, I'm a birder"
I very much enjoyed chatting with him and he was a decent bloke too...
Thanks Russ (y)
You may be right about the focus missing. The light was not great and it's a heavy crop so it is not the best IQ but I was reasonably happy with the result.
Thanks Phil - much appreciated.
I also felt unsure about the oof grass but decided there was enough detail in the shots to balance it out. :)
Great info on differences between the males and females (y)
