Red arrows were over here yesterday so took the 150-400mm out and the zoom proved invaluable with them. I would have never been able to get the same shots with the old 300mm. I was zooming in and out all over the shop. This one is my favourite as they flew in front of a rainbow. Red Arrows...

Im happy with the 150-400 replacing my 300 for Dragonflies overall. I do feel like the 300 had the slight edge when it came to getting Dflies in flight but quality wise matching and the versatility of the zoom makes me pleased i took the risk. Red-veined Darter, Isle of Man by Pete, on Flickr

150-400 / om1 mkii struggled to focus on these Emperor moths in flight but to be fair i think anything other than a 6 grand new A1 would focus on them. Got very lucky with this shot. Think this was at 1/4000th. Maybe i should have tried procapture to give me a better chance but getting them...

Depends what you are going to be shooting i think. If you need ultra sharpness but also length (ie wildlife) then i would stick with the bare 100-400 if it was me.

yeah thats what ive done but i was wanting to use that custom mode for something else. it seems daft i cant assign it to a button imo. or maybe hold down the drive button and turn the wheel to select through the drives like you can with detect modes.
