I use a wide mix of cameras some of which are not easy to track shutter counts on. I did check several of them a few years back, but can't find the data now.
It certainly varies widely sometimes I'll be out with the camera for hours & not take any. On one occasion with the local airshow I know I...
If you remove lens elements you will change the nature of the lens but it can still work. :)
Removing the rear group from many 50mm lenses (and some others) typically leaves a soft focus (less highly corrected) lens of longer focal length that needs extension to get focus.
After seeing a...
Not so.
Mirrorless models are far more adaptable with lenses, usually being able to use most rangefinder & all SLR lenses, but there are SLR mounts that can be adapted to other SLR lenses.
Canon SLRs are the most adaptable of the common brands, Nikon the worst. Despite this even Canon EF...
As long as it's only linkages or their shrouds there is no harm removing these from the lens for adapting it. If the linkages themselves are removed/shortened this may prevent the lens being used properly on a Nikon DSLR, but the shroud is only there to prevent the linkage from bending.
I've...
They don't adapt well to Nikon DSLRs, but loads of other cameras can make use of them - not as many as will take M42 but PB is still readily adaptable.
I've got the M42 version of the 50mm & possibly the 135. I don't think I have that 35, but I do have the CZJ Flektogon 35mm/2.4 which is a...

Asking experienced users can often be preferable. The discussions such...
I brought a HDMI peaking monitor to use with one of my old DSLRs that didn't have peaking, only to find the camera only transmitted the image in review mode. Which made it kind of useless to me.
If all the high tech solutions fail you could simply use a mirror to view the rear screen.
Another option that I used before I had a camera with live view, was to simply frame by guesswork (often cropping slightly afterwards). I can remember having half a dozen attempts to get big ben in frame...
There are plenty of people interested in old film bodies, I've currently got just under a hundred in total.
There are a wide range of different MF formats, one of the common ones is 6x4.5 (actually half the less common 6x9)
6x6 & 6x7 are the other common forms though I've certainly seen 6x12 & I...
