What lighting setup works best for product photos that may later be animated?

As ever, Garry has answered your questions brilliantly. But on this point I’d like to add; the whole point of lighting is the creation of shadows. Without shadows all we’ve done is create a very 2 dimensional image of a 3d object. The visual clues that trick the mind into seeing it’s a 3d...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

I’d considered an R7 as a way to go lighter on my kit. But after using 6d’s and R6’s for years, the noise made it impractical. I will say, I used the original 7d for weddings for years and could produce acceptable images. But after the 6’s I just couldn’t go back to that level of noise.

    RGB Tube light prices

Is your current key light an LED or flash? I think that looks like an interesting special effects light, but if I needed a second flash in a studio, then I’d buy a second flash. That’d be something with the same trigger system as the key light

    Beginner Good beginner setup?

You can’t get a bad camera. There’s nothing wrong with your choice Just be aware that it’s your first camera

    taking photo

Sorry This is the best thread on product photography since the guy who’d rented a studio, bought a £3000 camera, had £150 for a lens and hadn’t considered what equipment a studio might require. You fundamentally refuse to read what you do need. When told the camera isn’t important but you need...

High skill/high quality photography being rejected as AI?

Not just the obsession, the big tech companies are spending trillions for billions in returns. I predict a burst

High skill/high quality photography being rejected as AI?

Given the amount of any software program that is very old, I’d say not much of the old school software most of us use owes any programming to AI. Also, we live in a world where the ‘AI’ label gets attached to tons of stuff that technically isn’t AI for pure marketing. As an AI skeptic I...

High skill/high quality photography being rejected as AI?

Evidence requirements are evidence requirements, whether photographic, CCTV, or forensic. They aren’t subject to whether someone wants to believe. And I’m responding to court requirements as that was the original point. In matters of employment law (all civil law), the bar is lower. And...

High skill/high quality photography being rejected as AI?

It might be enough to get someone arrested, but as @gramps says, it’ll never be enough to get to court, where the barrier to admission is so much higher.

Am I the only one seeing posts that are almost certainly AI generated?

    Equipment thoughts please (canon equipment)

makes a big difference I presume you mean human models. Definitely a 70-200, but indoors you might need something shorter, and I couldn't go without recommending a 135L either the EF or RF If your budget allows, RF versions of all them, if not, for the price of an RF 24-70, you could maybe...

    Equipment thoughts please (canon equipment)

I keep the RF24-70 2.8L on my R6 almost all the time. I tried the 28-70 f2, and both the 24-105L’s. And if I had to choose again tomorrow, I’d pick the same. But I’ve no idea what you’re shooting in the studio, and I wouldn’t want to be without a 70-200. The RF f4 version is light and...

    Lithium batteries on aircraft

I never said it wasn’t scanned, what a ridiculous take. I posted that the barrier to escalation with hold luggage is very different to cabin bags. A pack of baby wipes in carry on will result in a bag search, I’m pretty confident it doesn’t result in a hold bag not getting on board without...
