still struggling with flash, just don't get it - do I dump the 3rd party flash or is it me?

Manual I gave a great amount of detail why the semi auto modes weren’t good for learning flash. Because the camera can’t possibly know what mix of flash and ambient you want. So it’ll guess - and when it guesses wrong it’s frustrating. If you shoot manual - you know exactly what the ambient...

still struggling with flash, just don't get it - do I dump the 3rd party flash or is it me?

I’m struggling to find the words to help. On your previous thread you were given literally thousands of words of advice. And you’ve ignored all of it and repeated a pattern of behaviour that didn’t get results first time. A) if you’re shooting w flash you won’t get ‘what you see with your...

As above AI Servo is the way to go, but in a very dark environment you can’t because it disables the focus assist.

Yes The whole point of BBF is that it’s effectively dynamic by nature. For still subjects it’s great as it allows focus recompose without concern the camera will refocus. And for moving subjects it just keeps tracking.

And if you’d been using BBF ‘properly’ it would have been in focus too. It’s not the technique’s fault that you failed to use it.

What backing up equipment do you use when travelling

I get that - but keeping a few cards 'safe' isn't a big deal when travelling - the OP has twin card slots, if he was paranoid he could easily keep his used cards in separate safe places, in fact backing up to another device just creates a further device that needs to be taken care of. All...

There is, and they used to be quite popular. But as memory cards are so cheap now it hardly seems worth it.

Non Canon batteries in the R7

New Canon chargers have been refusing to charge non-OEM batteries for years, the fix is simple and works as an actual upgrade. Buy 3rd party batteries with charger included. For less than the bulk of the Canon charger I can charge 3 batteries (mix of Canon and OEM). When I was working weddings...

How can you use Godox AD200 + AD-S7 sort of "on-camera"?

All my years shooting events the flash decision was: Do I need to be completely mobile? Yes - then either hand held or on camera flash, usually bounced. No- use a decent sized modifier For further detail, the 30cm 'softbox' or similar was never used anything other than 'in hand' The type of...

I'm glad it worked out for you. Just one question, how did BBF negatively impact? It always works for me.

TBH ‘lightweight’ lightstands are exactly that.

Non Canon batteries in the R7

Always used 3rd party batteries from 300d to R6. Never noticed a reduction in performance
