Panasonic L10. The only review I agree with.

We will indeed. I would hope that if it proves to be a success you would moderate your opinion somewhat. Because at the moment I'm struggling to understand your hostility.

Panasonic L10. The only review I agree with.

As usual, I think, the truth will be somewhere in the middle. Yes, it's been very well received, but then the backlash started. It's a camera, it either fits the bill, or it doesn't. It's not the end of the world.

    Linux Mint

I don't care for the new version of Libre Office. It seems quite buggy, to me. I've yet to be able to get it to perform like an older version on another machine. However, I have discovered Free Office, which is more akin to MS Office, in appearance, and seems quite interesting. No installers...

    Linux Mint

Firefox, in particular, is continuously updated. I've forgotten how many versions there have been since I installed Linux. :D Generally speaking it seems to me that the open source community is much more pro-active and are constantly beavering away around the world.

    Linux Mint

It's certainly a different way of doing things. I'm enjoying it so far. It's a bit like muscle memory. It can be frustrating on occassion. I think Mint itself is due for a big ugrade in the new year.

    Linux Mint

I briefly flirted with W10 Pro. Very briefly. It arrived preinstalled on a laptop I purchased. A very highly specced laptop that outperforms my poor old Dell, in every respect. But anyway, it had W10 Pro on it. Now I've nothing against W10, at all. I was running it quite happily until Microsoft...

Panasonic L10. The only review I agree with.

I think a lot of people will. I always think the Peta Pixel reviews are the litmus test for new cameras. I shall be interested to hear what they have to say.

Panasonic L10. The only review I agree with.

I must admit I was swayed by first reports of the L10. It is a good camera, whichever way you look at it. But, without seeing it, he's probably got a point. I think as long as you get the idea that it's a compact camera out of your head, you'll be fine.

AI Slop, Advertising and Visual Literacy

Claire, the AI assistant at EonNext, pays my electricity bill for me. Make of that what you will.

Gimp and RAW files, Raw therapee

In RawTherapee once you have located the file you click on it and it should take that file into editor. The controls you need will be on your right. Once you've adjusted it to your satisfaction there ought to be a save icon on the bottom left. If you then click on that you will get a window, and...

Gimp and RAW files, Raw therapee

I don't know the answer. But I have no problem reading Raw files in RawTherapee, so something is going on. I usually import my files direct to a folder on my hard drive, and have no problem accessing them.

AI Slop, Advertising and Visual Literacy

I don't know if I've been deterred exactly, but I just tend to ignore them. I suppose it's the nature of AI that it's evolved to almost a common look, and it makes it very easy to spot. It is uniquely bland, in my experience.

Film: You win some and you lose some.

I think film can be inconsistent, even on the same roll. Some shots might have that wow factor, but others are inexplicably awful. I've never quite worked that one out.

    Some recommendations for B&W film

Why? I've shot Foma 200 at box speed and it's been spot on.
