I'd say the altered backdrop is really disturbing and takes my eyes of the subject of the picture. If you want an easy way to alter your background without much of a fuzz, try shooting a speedlight through something you have close by, perhaps a glas and put a colorfilter on it. No way of...

Just a tip here. Since you are shooting with flash here, and the flash beeing the only light in the scene, you can set your shutterspeed way down to say 1/200s instead to avoid any unwanted ambient spill. When photographing with a flash, the ammount of light from the flash is controlled only...

To remove the veins, you could try a simple cloning or perhaps the patchtool. That is if you use Photoshop atleast. Could be worth a shot if you havnt tried it.

Thought I'd try to get some feedback on one of my latest pictures. Gear used : 1D mk3 with 24-105 @ 80mm, f/8 1/200s ISO100 Strobist : 580EX II @ 1/8 through umbrella at camera right, 60 degrees. SB-28 @ 1/16th behind her head. EDIT : Let's try if this works instead then.
