    First ever skipic

Thought I'd go ahead and get some comments on my first attempt at shooting winter sports. Crosslit with 2 SB-800's triggered by skyports. It was pitch black outside a part from some lightning at the site, lifts wont open till tomorrow so we had to walk up the hill.

Heh no doubt random. And regarding the smilies, I'm well aware of the "proper" way to make a smiley, I just enjoy beeing somewhat different -> (; <- And not having a green lil widget in the middle of the sentence makes me seem almost serious from time to time! No joke!

Well I still have the photoshop file with all the separate layers, so pretty much anything can still be changed, hence the before it goes to print (; It is indeed one of the first frames, so she wasn't feeling quite comfortable in front of the camera yet, though the laughter is as real as it...

Thought I'd go ahead and get some critique on one of my latest image before it goes to print, just in case I've missed something (:

    Sports Portrait

I'd say the altered backdrop is really disturbing and takes my eyes of the subject of the picture. If you want an easy way to alter your background without much of a fuzz, try shooting a speedlight through something you have close by, perhaps a glas and put a colorfilter on it. No way of...

    Self Portrait (off camera flash)

Just a tip here. Since you are shooting with flash here, and the flash beeing the only light in the scene, you can set your shutterspeed way down to say 1/200s instead to avoid any unwanted ambient spill. When photographing with a flash, the ammount of light from the flash is controlled only...

Advice on home setup for portraits

If you are looking to find good slave flashes, have a look at the old nikon flashes such as the SB24, SB26 and SB26. I use a canon camerahouse with 2 SB800s, a SB28 and a SB24, works like a charm. I have a hard time imagining that the brand of the synccable will make any differance. I recently...

    Hello from Sweden

Thought I'd drop a few lines here as well! My name is Robert and I'm from Sweden. Been searching for a good forum to hang around on and this feels like it might be it. Nice people and not a lot of threads gone wild with OT. I'll be posting mainly in the various critique forums trying to...

    Old Miss Scotland

To remove the veins, you could try a simple cloning or perhaps the patchtool. That is if you use Photoshop atleast. Could be worth a shot if you havnt tried it.

    Portrait of Louise

I was planning to shortly, but seems like my plans have been postponed (atleast I think that's the word for it), since I cant seem to get my mk3 sold. Still on the lookout though!

    Portrait of Louise

@ Thomas Whitehouse - I do agree with you, this was only a quick retouch, I might be posting the finished picture soon though, had my hands full this week. Thank you for the advice though! @ neo2110 - Hah, I'll be sure to pass that on to Louise. Im pretty convinced she'll be happy to hear that...

    Portrait of Louise

Thank you all for the kind comments! @ markp - I do agree, though I only had two flashes to my disposal, and no reflectors at that time. Been upgrading my lightninggear a bit lately to 2 x SB800 and two SB28 slaves, so there'll be more with this girl (:

    Portrait of Louise

Thought I'd try to get some feedback on one of my latest pictures. Gear used : 1D mk3 with 24-105 @ 80mm, f/8 1/200s ISO100 Strobist : 580EX II @ 1/8 through umbrella at camera right, 60 degrees. SB-28 @ 1/16th behind her head. EDIT : Let's try if this works instead then.
