    Upgrade 40D dilemma! 650D/7D/5D Mk2

As Wuyan says, the 5D may give better low-light results but is a bit over-kill for eventing. As for glass, I had 70-200 f2.8, 24-105 f4 and a 50mm f1.4. There are rumours about a 'new' 7D' but will no doubt be silly money when launched and the current 7D does the job.:)

    Upgrade 40D dilemma! 650D/7D/5D Mk2

I'd go for the 7D. Although I never used mine for video, it is supposed to be very good. Also is a good 'all-rounder'. Used to use mine for event photography and was brilliant but do try to get some 'L' glass if you can. Hope this helps.

    Canon 40D Mega over-exposure

Problem solved.... lens is buggered. Tried different lens and all working fine. Put this lens on another body and same problem. Appears that the aperture blades have stuck fully open. Have now ordered the new 18-125 OS from the nice man at Amazon.

    Canon 40D Mega over-exposure

Now that was interesting.... On AV mode took 1 at 3.5 - ok, took 1 at f10 -burning out and 1 at f20 - totally burnt out. This would suggest that the blades on the lens are not closing down with the corresponding f stop chosen on camera....? Would also explain why lower light shots are ok. Think...

    First DSLR decisions

Another vote for the 40D over 500D etc. BUT the glass is more important - get the best you can afford.... Simples.

Any one with a Rib to hire?

Daryl, you could try contacting a couple of marinas around Hamble and see if they may be able to point you at someone with a suitable boat, i.e. one with engines rather than sails. Maybe offer the owner some piccies of his pride and joy to sweeten it a bit.

What's the best way to protect your images from theft?

Sorry but that statement is a load of ?????? I recently closed my event business for various reasons, and before you say it, not because the photos were crap. If I had a quid for every pic that was nicked and put on fb I would be a happy bunny. And yes they were heavily watermarked. Fact is...
