Thinking about buying the Nikon D3300 kit, anything better at same price point?

Hi Guys, I'm looking to buy this camera. Is there something better that I can go for at similar price? I've read that there is a lot of noise with this model?! Any info and recommended lenses welcome (portraits/lighting (corners of old rooms, etc) Thanks so much for any info!
