Cameras that take AA batteries

Hello! I'm sorry to pollute this nice blog with an annoying question, but could anyone tell me the difference between having a camera that takes AA batteries and one with a rechargeable battery? I'm trying to buy a new camera, but because I travel so much I want one that takes AA...
