South-West England Durdle Door Parking at night

Whenever I've been there's a small car parking area just before the locked gate thru the Camp site (look on google maps). Park there, thru the gate and campsite and on to the daytime parking area. Extra 10 mins max.

Adobe and Apple not playing nice

I've also found the liquify tool troublesome on my mac recently. It works fine in the preview but simply doesn't make the adjustment on the layer. Oddly, if i save the file first, then use liquify, it works! Even more strange is that I haven't updated to Mojave!

Sky Arts ~ Masters of Photography

Mmm...It's interesting. Whilst I thoughts Nora's image was a bit 'safe' I thought it did meet the brief well. It shows exactly the relationship emotionally she thought the lady had with her cat. I immediately thought of winter night, fireside, watching tv cuddling her precious pet. Just because...

    Way out West - Cornwall

Hiya, looks like you had a lovely time! I agree with Kodiak, the first is my favourite but I'd be tempted to cut most of that foreground out as the interest sits in the lovely bright spray and the dramatic sky in the background. The rock and eyelet add little and reduce the impact of the...

    Northern Lights post process

Hi John I've shot the NL several times including up in Tromso. What Steve says about infinity focus is true so I used two methods to deal with this. One is to focus during the day on something on the horizon and either tape or remember where the barrel moves to. The second and more reliable is...

    Parking Fine supermarket overstay

I had a fine for pretty much the same thing. Private parking company etc etc. I copy and pasted a letter i found on the internet. Apparently, a photo of you entering and leaving the car park is no proof you were actually parked up. I wrote to them quoting some legalese and hey presto, they wrote...

    Going Solo

Same as above here - cracking effort and just a couple of slight issues preventing it from being a great shot. I'm not too worried about the nearest lights but the modern car slightly detracts. Great effort tho and I admire your persistence in a tricky situation!

I kinda agree with Simon, it's hard to crit if things you left in on purpose have no intention to create a mood or feeling. To me it looks a messy grab shot with a strange light on her face, none of which add anything but distraction to the image. Sorry for sounding harsh but in my mind, if you...

I'm struggling with the concept. I'm interested to know what you think the shot is saying/doing? The stains on the wall, the bit of furniture, her attire, pose, the light on the face? You say you've left things in 'purposefully' but havent said why. It might be easier to critique and...

    Talk Art Section???

Thanks Chris, I found the wondering about it actually harder than the doing of it. At the end of the day, you needn't show anyone your results, have a go, laugh at yourself if it doesn't work and see how it goes from there!

    Talk Art Section???

I love this debate, it's refreshing to see a good discussion without all the normal to-ing and fro-ing, usually with anger bubbling just below the surface (or boiling over in many cases!). I 'learned the craft' of photography a good few years ago. I started to get bored, jumping around...

Sky Arts Master of Photography TV prog

I thought Gabrielle or Marta should win but I think Ruperts "I'm a soldier" line got to me in the end and just annoyed me. I didn't like his final 3 images but I could see the middle one had some merit with the fragmentation. Disappointed they all went for the rich/poor theme and not something...

BBC ... you should be very ashamed of yourselves.

    What cricket is that?

Sky Arts Master of Photography TV prog

Yeah I think this one was the best so far in regards to understanding the judges comments etc. The guest was thoughtful and kind for a change and I think, generally positive towards the contestants which made for better viewing. Marta nailed it, I think Jan did too, the pain (mental) he suffers...
