    Canon 7D MKII exposure problems

I'd have to say those images aren't the best exposed. My 7D Mk1 doesn't cope well in those circumstances either. As you say, the pup up flash is a likely cause of some of the issues.

    The Abandoned Dinorwic Slate Quarry

That made me laugh out loud. Its always like that in Wales as far as I know and those shots capture the mist really well which digital wouldn't have.

    Derick & Gemma

I think the PP really works well and adds a real bit of class. As others say, maybe in the printing stage you will lose a bit of detail but on screen they are very good indeed. Also, the detail in the faces is great - clearly not a young couple but very good looking.

    Silly lens question - sensors

thanks - I hadn't considered the DoF thing which is quite interesting and requiring of more thought. Anyway, all lenses do the same thing and there is no magic, as I thought, in any of them.

    Silly lens question - sensors

I know that most DSLRs use a small sensor and because of this there is a direct effect on the effective focal length of the lens; the same as going from 6x6 to 35mm - easy. So, does this apply with all lenses, specifically EF-S lenses designed for small sensor cameras? Logic says yes I must...
