After lots of thinking I ended up going for a 500D refurb from Canon i.e. with full years warranty. Its turned up and looks perfect. Can't see anything wrong with it so its all good. To finish off the starter kit I also went for a 55-250 IS II lens and a couple of UV and Polarising filters.
