In terms of hardware, the non-apple products will always be better value. I think it is really down to whether or not you get on better with Apple or Windows software.

It will get dusty like everything else. Get on google and search for rocket blower and lenspen. With the 2 of them you should be able to sort out most dust problems

Whilst I keep hearing more and more accounts of equipment being DOA which suggests poor quality checks, on the whole gear seems quite reliable these days (touches wood). Just wondering what other peoples experiences are and what failures they have had both in and out of warranty. For myself...
