100% with you there. The others are good, although the shadows need raising a bit, but this one gives a real feel of a wild bird in its environment. For me the most exciting of the group.
Assuming you want to go on learning: IMHO for this type of shot where the body and wings are virtually in the same plane of focus, i.e. parallel to the sensor, all the same distance from the camera, you could use a wider aperture (smaller number) which will reduce the depth of field and throw...
You have a great 'eye' and the talent to capture what it sees. I'm stunned by both of these.
Amazing that the insects are so sharp and the background so beautifully OOF. Your positioning has captured such great backgrounds too.
I would like a new photo printer along the lines of my current Canon iP4500. My criteria, in order are:
Good photo quality.
Reliability
Low cost per page.
I have an adequate to good scanner so don't need to pay for that to be included
Sensible size, preferably with front loading of general...
Hi Paul, Not knowing either site and never having tried captive animal photography, could you explain the pros and cons of the sites. What is the disadvantage of wildwood and the advantage of BWC? Thanks
With respect to VR or not at 600mm and 1/1000s. Surely the 'reciprocal rule' was established in the days of 35mm film. Now we may use a less than full frame sensor so presumably the shutter speed needs to be multiplied by 'crop factor' and then we crop the image so a further multiplication...
I really don't think any of these assurances are helping are they Lindsay? Rational comments about how safe it is really don't cut the mustard, I can see that from your description of being in a car on a bridge. Please don't think I'm being rude but have you described your fear to a doctor...
That's really helpful dejongj. I'll investigate. I take it that you don't think Keynote reduces the quality compared to a straight projection of an image? I'm hoping that's the case because of Keynotes other facilities.
I give a series of talks to local groups about wildlife topics. I like to keep people awake by regularly breaking into simple moving images and occasional graphic effects etc. I like the images to be displayed at a high quality: it takes a long time to take and process a good wildlife image so...
I think you've done as well as possible without photo stacking. You've hit the head / palps. Of course the focus is on leg 2 because leg 1 is way in front of the head, leg 2 is in the same plane as the head. If you had focused on the front legs everything else would be out of focus. For a...
New here so didn't like to comment in the other thread until I'd got a handle on what people expect. I like them. Although not the goose so much, not a very attractive angle. Interesting that 'the other' thread thought they were blown out and here they are thought to be underexposed? I take...
Could not get on with the 393. How do you carry the thing with large lens and camera mounted? Could not lock it in the vertical direction. Even spoke to Manfrotto guy at Birdfair and he agreed it could do with a screw to lock the movement for transport.
Now use a Benro and am absolutely...
