What degrades on them over time?

The telephotos are nicely suited to the crop sensors too I find. I'd go for the 70-200 over the 24-105 presuming you already have a kit lens or such in that range?

Already pulled the trigger on the Canon EOS M and Sigma DP would require a whole new lens lineup.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll have a look into the wide angle sigma, I'd half thought about the new Canon fisheye but thought it maybe a little too specalised. I was under the impression the 24- 70 II was of plastic construction and slightly smaller than the old one, I may rent/borrow one...

Good point :) but I don't mind big and heavy for something quite specialised, it's more the "walkabout" stuff that starts to take its toll after a while.

Looking for any suggestions/ideas! I usually lug my SLR around whenever I'm going anywhere that might have the smallest opportunity for a shot to be had. I don't really stick to one thing so really a bit of everything! (not useful info I know!) This was OK when I had a 400D and a nifty fifty...

Good to hear. I've noticed a lot of older writable CDs becoming rusty and the writable material actually separating from the plastic disc.

Looks good. I have a Lowepro slingshot that I'd really like to replace with something bigger and a little less annoying.

Sounds like they may have altered the design slightly as on mine I can't see how it would be avoided, maybe there are few versions of the connector?

You could just say you were using your phantom to film these people who were filming you with their phones? Seems mad these people could complain "looks these guys were videoing us - look at this video".
