I knew when I said that it wasn't strictly true. I have heard of flipping elements like with the Helios but not seen anyone completely remove the rear element. That soft focus looks perfect for a 1970's dream sequence in a movie.
Personally I would never hack a Nikkor 105/2.5 unless it was...
There might have been some confusion there. When referring to lenses, 'elements' are the optical glass parts and you certainly can't remove the rear element and still have a working lens. The shrouds are a different matter and for the most part serve no optical purpose in the lens so can be...
Don't quote me on it but that black protruding shroud bit I believe is removable via 3 screws, one is visible in the photo. It is mainly designed to cut down on internal reflections and to keep stuff from getting down into the lens. I have removed them before and found no noticeable difference...
Something from the Olympus Tough range might fit the bill, they are water and shock resistant. A bit dated now but should still be capable of taking good images.
Depending on the model they even have image stabilization in the more recent(ish) ones.
You could probably source 3 with cases, SD...
I've used all of them adapted with an A7Rii and they all are perfectly fine lenses imho.
As Mike says at or around £20 each providing they are functional, clean and fungus free, more for the 35mm f2.4 which is the same optical design as a CZJ Flektogon 35mm f2.4( a fairly sought after lens)...
Thanks for the warning, I am aware of certain Fuji lenses misbehaving with other makes. That's the reason I am waiting for a specific m42-Emount adapter which will accommodate the stupid little indexing tab on the back of the aperture ring that stops it from being able to hit infinity on normal...
A spur of the moment purchase last week, a m42 Fuji Photo EBC Fujinon SW 24mm f2.8. I only picked it up because I had never seen one come up for sale before and it was going cheap as a spares and repair. The repair was very straight forward and easy, just waiting on an adapter to try out what...
Most (every one I have tried at least) of the adapters which include optical infinity correction lenses have caused moderate to fairly major image degradation. CAs increase and overall sharpness decreases. Any optical imperfections of the main lens tend to be amplified by the corrective lens in...
Ha, luck of the draw and more of a challenge as Toni says. ;) Apologies are unnecessary, especially when you're graciously taking the time to run the whole thing.
Same here, I've bought many a film era lens with mild fungus at a fraction of the normal price. As long as its not right in the middle of one of the rear elements more often than not it either has no discernible effect on the end image or can be cleaned without too much effort. If it doesn't...
Sadly that is not an option for some, living in the fens our house is terrible for seasonal humidity and temp fluctuations (its ancient with out of date insulation , retrofitted heating and double glazing the house was not originally designed for). Throw in some dust and its the perfect...
