    camcorder reccomendation please

The X1500 is showing 1hr run time, the X1 is showing 26hrs run time, so hardly used, But MBP are listing the X1 as 'well used' Ive no idea why, a pro camera like this should be capable of 1000+ hrs easily.

    camcorder reccomendation please

If Realspeed has convinced you MPB have a HC-X1500 £1099, but they also have the HC-X1 which has a bigger sensor than the X1500 so will be slightly better in low light and thats only £834

new idea for walking with camcorder

Good idea, do you hold the top handle in one hand and the new handle in another? It might be worth adding a camera strap to the camera with that put around your neck and some pressure put on the strap you'll have 3 points of contact which will help make it less likely to move around.

    river in iceland

I totaly agree with having the surrounding sound, it adds so much to the video. In that clip you showed the most important part of that video is what the man is saying, without his words then i might as well have been a still photo. The point i was making is that any additional noise that...

    river in iceland

A lot of wildlife videographers do prefer a long zoom over a prime on what ever camera they are using. Its mostly due to the short interaction you often get when filming wildlife, you can grab a wide, a mid and a tight shot very quickly, by the time you have swapped over primes the action you...

    river in iceland

Out of curiosity I had a look around tonight on the Wex site. Canon Eos R100 with a RFS 18-45mm lens for £600 add to that a RF 100-400 lens at £700 leaving £100 for a Rode Videomic go 2 Ok its not the 600mm lens but shoot in 4k then crop to 1080 and you'll get the same reach with it being a...

    river in iceland

A lot depends on what you are filming, and of course how good you are at filming. I have a Panasonic HC-VXF990 small fairly cheap video camera thats surprisingly good at some things, also a HC-X1 which is at a much higher level. Also for video i'll use my EOS5D4 or a EOS77D or a GoPro 9 or...

    On board light advise

The Lume cube panel mini has a 1200mAh battery and they claim 14hrs use! The similar sized Smallrig RGB video light has a 4000mAh battery and they claim 16hrs at 1% power, but 3hrs use at 100%. Look at battery size and if it can be recharged while using it, a small power bank might just save the...

Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra mobile phone for videoing football - advice sought.

On 'match of the day' when it rains they cover the cameras with waterproof covers, they dont put them away and use phones. If you want to get decent footage get a good waterproof cover, if it fits the 90D it will also fit the 7D. I also film a lot of local football over here in Cumbria (another...

    Free video editing software?

Get Resolve, yes there is a steepish learning curve to get the best out of it, but to create a simple video you can have it worked out in an evening. If you get some basic instant editing package like some of those suggested at some point you will outgrow them, as you get more into your videos...

    Advice for a video newbie

It might be worth trying using it at f3.5 instead of f5.6, that will probably be at 18mm so it might be a bit too wide but you can always get closer.

    keeping camera/camcorder steady while walking

A handheld stabilizer would probably work and be very budget friendly. Neewer do one that is claimed to hold up to 6lb of camera weight. There is one on Ebay Link A video showing it in use View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-OFR3UOJfw

new v to look old video

I think the main difference is in old films the black was black, a digital conversion just makes everything shades of grey as in the film above, nothing is black and some of it should be.
