    Nikon D90 vs Canon 500D

I can only say that been through similar turmoil, agonising over a Canon 450D, Canon 500D, Nikon D60 or Nikon D90. I went to a few shops, handled one of each and ended up with the D90 - but purely as much because of wanting to get a particular lens (both now and to upgrade in the future). I...

    Teleconverter advice please

Hmmmmmmm. Well, I've seen this: http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-kenko-teleplus-pro-300-dgx-1-4x-nikon-af-teleconverter/p1032183 and: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenko-Teleplus-Extender-Pro-300-Nikon/dp/B000KZ5ZZU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1250888314&sr=8-3 It was the latter that I...

    Teleconverter advice please

Just as an update, the tele converter has been returned and my refund received. The seller was very honourable and helpful. So, I'm a tad disappointed ,but not dis-heartened. I just need to find another one - that works. However, I can't seem to find the "grey" one that was recommended in an...

    Teleconverter advice please

Thanks all, I tried it with my Sigma Macro lens this morning as well as the AF-D lens and it simply shows the same error. Looks like it's defective. Oh well, let's see what the seller says .... Many thanks again folks for taking the time to respond and support my suspicions.

    Teleconverter advice please

I don't think I have contact cleaner buried in the garage but I will check. That's a good shout. They all look bright. I've just noticed that while there are 10 contacts on the lens side there are 8 on the camera side. Two of those are not as springy as the others but they all look as if they...

    Teleconverter advice please

This teleconverter is the black one (but does have the 10 contacts) but on reflection it might be because I'm trying this inside (with all the lights on though). I'll try again in the morning when there is more light, just in case it is too dark to activate the AF sensors, but the camera's...

    Teleconverter advice please

Hi, I may have been very naive in a recent purchase. I have a Nikon D90 and a 80-200mm AF-D f2.8 lens. In order to try and get a little more reach, I bid for and won a 1.4x Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DG teleconverter (marked Kenko N-AFD) on a well known auction site. On receipt of this...

    What will Nikon 80 - 200 AF D F2.8 give me in over a Nikon 70 - 300 VR?

Always good to hear the good vs the bad sir! Do you use a 1.4x or 2x version?

    What will Nikon 80 - 200 AF D F2.8 give me in over a Nikon 70 - 300 VR?

Hmmm, you have a point there although I did wonder when FITP mentioned that he didn't lack the lack of togetherness/stability. With a lens that heavy you want it solidly mounted - at least I would. I've invested too much in both the lens and the body to risk both with a weak link.

Nikon Teleconvertor question - Is there one for the AF-S 70-300mm and AF-D 80-200mm?

Nice try about the swap .. maybe if you let me stay at yours if I head through Germany on a bike tour I'll let you borrow it for a trial ... would seem an (almost) balanced trade. :p

Nikon Teleconvertor question - Is there one for the AF-S 70-300mm and AF-D 80-200mm?

Naboo32, I'm a newbie, but your question seems based on a similar set of desires to those related here: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=156558 I've got the 80-200 but would really like to get 300mm or a little more if possible. If I can manage it, I'll hang on to the...

    What will Nikon 80 - 200 AF D F2.8 give me in over a Nikon 70 - 300 VR?

I'm in the converse position. I'm lucky enough to have the 80-200 AF D f2.8, but would like a little more reach when trying to photograph some of the birds in my garden. I'm torn between trying a 70-300 you have or the 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED. I you believe what you read the latter is slow to...

    camerabox.co.uk question

Hi, I've only bought filters from Camerabox - primarily because they claimed to have them available for next day delivery. This was true on the first instance, but not so true on the second. I got the filters a few days later and they were well packaged. I guess the true test is when things go...

    Any motorbiking photographers here?

I'll second the Baglux recommendation. Reasonably waterproof without the rain cover (less of an issue with a sports touring/half-faired bike anyway) and pretty well made. No scratching issues either. I like to know the camera is still there too so there is some re-assurance having it in front of...

    Any motorbiking photographers here?

I'm a fan of the Baglux kit and use the tankbag on my VFR for the camera gear. I've not long moved to digital SLR after abondoning film SLR about 5 years ago for the hassles described below. I'll tend to put the zoom lens on the body and put it in the tank bag and stash any other lenses in...
