If memory serves, Estime was meant to be Bowen's replacement for their Quadmatic line, you'll note the packs are relatively small and it features much smaller power connectors, there was also the Traveller range which had some similar features. I don't think the range did as well as they would...
Unless my memory is failing me I'm pretty sure I've been told Mosfets are a more common point of failure than Capacitors but regardless of what exactly went wrong it certainly sounds like an electronics component(s) has failed, maybe worth checking if the flash tube terminals haven't arced out...
I could make the argument if I stole an R V then that means every other camera is really rubbish because they're more expensive but anyone can see that isn't a fair comparison, the two aren't equal.
In the same vein, comparing the best grey prices you can find on cameras which are several years...
On the point of technology it's not just the move from larger formats, the gap between a monoblock and pack has narrowed enough that 'most' people are going to be fine with either and then there's the staggering price difference.
If you buy the only pack Profoto is offering with two heads...
Don't get me wrong, I own one of the Godox extensions and I wasn't suggesting it's a good or a bad thing but I do think the market has spoken on its preference between them and monoblocks.
One of my biggest complaints about Chinese gear was how they never reused any designs, every new product...
The B1X is £2.4k and can't be mains powered, the D2 is £1.9k and has no battery. It's not Profoto pricing so who is it really competing against?
The AD600 Pro is closer to half the price so I'd assume its biggest competitor will be the rest of their own range, the ELB 1200 isn't directly...
It's not if you really need it, it's in truth a good price for new but used prices can be incredible to the point they're unrealistic.
The problem with used is you have no control over timing, if you can wait you will get some bargains but if you need something soon it doesn't help you that a...
Yeah it's a hardware fault, I've had a few of those fixed by Bowens over the years. They had to replace a board so it worked out quite expensive and of course is no longer an option with Bowens gone, sure you could find a company to replace the parts but they'd just be sourcing them from used...
Depends on which specific version you're talking about but I'd start with opening the rear Velcro latches to loosen the tension slightly, if you were able to get them closed then it shouldn't be too bad with them open.
On really annoying (badly made) softboxes one of the easiest ways I found...
Oh in that case a couple of warnings then, make sure the head is switched off when changing the tube and don't touch the glass with your bare skin (to avoid getting any oils on the glass).
Yes replace the tube and the problem should go away but if you happen to have another head which isn't doing this it might be an idea to swap tubes to double check it's the tube before buying anything.
Try not to exert too much force on the glass, while Elinchrom heads are pretty good for how...
