I'm looking to get the Sigma 150-600mm shortly and as such looking for a decent backpack to take it in. Checking my existing kit, I think it should fit in my Lowepro Flipside 400 (is that correct?) with a bit of space around for some other lenses/kit?
Now, this brings me to the important...
You'd have to allow ~ £60 for MS Office and ~ £60 for Photoshop Elements. That would bring the budget for the laptop down to £480, so you should be looking at 4gb memory and 500gb hdd.
e.g...
For similar money you can get Toshiba or Acer's (and possibly Compaq and Dell) with dual core processors which would be more beneficial in the long run imho.
Basic spec: Dual Core AMD or Intel processor; 3GB minimum; 250gb hdd and of course Win 7.
I wasn't going to mention it, because I don't think it's exactly what you're looking for, but I'm selling a Lowepro Compudaysack which fits a 17" laptop and a reasonable amount of kit. It's a lot cheaper than a Peli Case although I accept maybe not as hardwearing...
Jessops refinanced alot of their debt earlier in the year and fixed interest until 2011 (I think) and will give their next trading update soonish too. I think they'll be OK for the short term, but will struggle over the next 3 years.

Whilst there is lots of great advice out there (on here and in magazines and I believe there are 'other' photography websites out there too), some people like to be told what's going on, how that affects the pic, what to change...
Might also be worth waiting a few weeks if Avforums newsbot is correct. They recently had an article refering to the first Friday after Thanksgiving in the US, where alot of the main deals for the Xmas period are launched. Including cheaper (sub $200 D players).
I'll see if I can find it...
You also seem to be quite flush with cash - Jessops arent the cheapest option by any stretch of the imagination and looking at those prices, you can save about 50% by looking around. Batteries for a start should only cost about £7/8 delivered
