The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Memory card prices are sheer madness at the moment. I was debating last year whether to treat my A7RV to some decent CF-Express A cards to replace the SDXC cards I currently used, but waited too long, and when I decided to pull the pin, prices had almost trebled. I was looking at some...

    Review Sony A7RV, Nikon Z8 + Canon R5ii

I don't have the Canon but do have the Z8 and A7RV. Largely depends on what you are shooting, but for me I find the affordable telephoto options on the Nikon to be superior to Sony's with the incredible 400mm F4.5, 600mm F6.3 and 800mm F6.3 lenses (and even the keenly priced 180-600 F5.6-6.3)...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

Geoff, when you have had that Sony 20-70 F4 you really appreciate the extra wideness at the short end over 24mm, and the fact that it's the same size as the Nikon Z 24-70 F4, lighter and without the clumsy twist to open that the Nikon lens has. A lot of the time, it can be a one lens solution...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

I'd like to know this as well, as I love my Sony 20-70 on my A7RV and A7CR, and would like to know how it fairs on the Nikon Z bodies as well ?

OSMO Pocket 3/4 Wireless Mic mounting

Hi all, I've just upgraded to the OP4, (still have my OP3), and still have the same query. I'm not a vlogger so don't use the camera to record me talking to the camera, but rather like I do with my Nikon's and Sony's, i.e. to film what's going on around me, and when on holidays with the wife and...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

Not been out with the Z8 much lately so I made a conscious decision to get out during my lunch break to se what I could spot. Took my Nikon 180-600, but in the hour or so, didn't see too much but did get this quick clip of a Eurasian Wren in the undergrowth (shot at 120fps and slowed down)

I've had some great results with the 70-350 on my A7RV

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

The Wife and I just returned from a weeks city break to Rome, and it was the first time in using my new A7CR in anger, so I'd thought I'd give a mini review after shooting nearly a thousand images and just over an hour of video. I took a very minimal kit consisting of the A7CR Body and 2 lenses...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

I started a thread over in the Micro Four Thirds forum stating that it was stagnating quite a bit over recent years (although it's still a great system), and many responded by stating it's charm was size and weight. The trouble with that argument is that on the body front, some of the Sony FF...

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Can't really help with your question Peter, but all I will say is that whilst I find myself shooting 80-90% of my wildlife and bird photos with my Nikon Z kit these days, my Olympus 300mm F4 Pro is so sharp and easy to pack, that for the 10-20% I shoot with my OM-1 I can't honestly see myself...

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Sony cameras are generally soulless and yes I'd agree that generally their ergonomics are worse than an OMS camera (however they are getting much better), however they do get the job done and their AF and tracking is simply magic. Out of all my bodies, for ergonomics, I'd have to say my Nikon Z...

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

I think it's interesting what OMS said in a recent interview: Why OM is stuck with 20MP sensors: Balancing high sensitivity performance and high definition is a major challenge. We also carefully evaluate the sensor readout speed, which is crucial for computational photography. For...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

The usual "what to take" question I'm afraid. At the beginning of April the wife and myself are going on a 4 day city break to Rome. I've just purchased an A7CR which will definitely be the body of choice, however I'm debating over my lens choice. For my Sony system, the usual two lenses are my...

The price increase on CFexpress Cards WOW!!!

I purchased a Samsung 990 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD, 4 TB, PCIe 4.0, 7,450 MB/s read, 6,900 MB/s NVME from Amazon back at the Start of October last year, and paid £273.99. I just checked today for the same one and it's gone up to £469.99 !! That's a 75% increase in just 6 months !
