Right now nothing too advanced, its likely to be well lit stuff, during the day, indoors and out, friends and family gathering. Sounds like the 10-18 will be ideal for my needs. Thanks for the recommendation.

I am one of those in the same boat and I also have a Canon 70D, but without the kit lens and wanted to invest in a lens that would be good for shooting video. Does anyone have other suggestions for a lens worth trying? (That is less than £500.)
