Shutter speed is perfect as i'm shooting to sell prints on the day and not to get loads of out of focus shots to delete. And still shooting MX as a full time job, shotguns stuff is only over the winter..
Best to check first as some tracks and clubs have there own onsite photographer working there so you may not be allowed on the track, most will or should want to see insurance if you want to go track side. You normally can shoot from the paddock and any public viewing areas though ;)
Only way to make money from Motocross is with onsite printing so the riders can view and buy products to take away on the day. Add a website for after sales for those who don't view at the track, very little money to be made from just selling jpegs after the event. I know this as shooting MX...
All clean sharp and sellable images, if you're shooting with the point of view to sell then your shutter speed is fine as you don't want to loose sellable images due to motion blur giving an out of focus rider, although i would suggest a shutter speed of around 1/1000 is enough to freeze most MX...
Taken on a game shooting day, the young boy is sitting on the shoot trailer attached to a tractor. It was lovely to capture this memory for his mum and dad :)
