    Canon or Sigma lens ?

Firstly thanks so much for all of the replies & first hand experiences with both lenses. If I went for the Canon it would have to be the MK1 version as the MK2 is out of my price range sadly & will be for quite a few years. It's nice to hear such good feedback about the Sigma lens as I was...

    Canon or Sigma lens ?

I'm finding that I need a greater focal length than what my Tamron SP 70-300mm lens can give so am thinking of getting either a Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 L IS USM or a Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM 'C' for my Canon 750D. Both seem to be around the same sort of money secondhand so not sure...

Beginner Red dots, Blue dots and white crosses on long exposure images

You can sometimes map out the hot pixels which has worked on some of the ones I get with my Canon 750D to do it remove the lens & sit the cameras body cap, switch on the camera & go into the menu & select lens cleaning then select manual clean, on mine you here the mirror swing up & then wait...

Car buyers should have 'long, hard think' about diesel

There is loads of info out there about the costs & carbon foot prints of making the batteries for EV's so it's not false info, ok you like your Nissan Leaf but in a way you are trying to tell everyone that they should switch over to an EV but there are down sides to them & as a time served...

Car buyers should have 'long, hard think' about diesel

I for one don't have the huge amount of money to buy an electric suv to tow my caravan but even if I did they just can't cover the distances I need, it's just over a 300 mile round trip to go & see the Granddaughter & a nice 900 miles round trip to see the inlaws not something you can really do...

Car buyers should have 'long, hard think' about diesel

If a car is driven correctly & is serviced well it won't put out a higher level of carbon as the engine gets older & I basically have no turbo lag on my Mondeo with it's 6 speed auto box. As for torque A Nissan Leaf isn't going to match that of my Mondeo in any way as you can't tow a caravan...

Car buyers should have 'long, hard think' about diesel

I like a petrol engine but they just don't produce the torque I want & need so drive a diesel, now my last diesel was meant to be as dirty as they come but that engine would run on basically anything & you could pour brand new vegetable straight into the tank (got some funny looks in supermarket...

Beginner How to protect Lens - Filters or Not

I have a UV filter fitted most of the time especially when i'm down at the coast as sand & salt are both nasty scratchy things as for cleaning I use a blower, lens brush or a very soft cloth

    North England North East sunsets.

If i'm honest i'm not sure but I don't think the farmer minds, but there is often cattle in the field which is something to bare in mind especially when they have their young. When I went I waited for a bit for the cows to move well off to the other side of the field & luckily it was just before...

    North England North East sunsets.

I'm in Cramlington so not that far from you really, Bolam lake can be nice at sunset, Belsay pond (next to the hall) is great if there is no wind as the trees reflect great in the pond, Northumberlandia can be nice, Arcot pond in Cramlington is meant to be nice but not tried it yet & the lone...

    PSA test - men

I have noticed that the awareness of prostate cancer has increased a lot over the past 15 years or so which if fantastic but the attitude of males in general hasn't really changed & the comments like i'm fine there isn't anything wrong with me or no Doctor is sticking their finger up my bum are...

    PSA test - men

I think this is a great thread to help bring about more awareness of prostate cancer because it's not a case of if you get it it's a case of when you get it. My Granddad had it & just after my Dad retired at 55 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer which was a bit of a shock, luckily my Dad...

Beginner Which lens should I choose for astrophotography

A few of my friends use a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 with great results sadly I didn't have the funds for this lens so I replaced my Canon kit lens (18-55mm STM lens) with a Tamron SP 17-50mm F2.8 vc lens & have been happy with the results when it comes to astro shots & the normal day to day stuff

    Possible Aurora tonight.

I highly recommend the Glendale auroras page & app as mentioned can be found here https://aurora-alerts.uk/ sadly where I am we have a blanket of cloud forecasted yet again & that big bright moon isn't going to do us any favours at all so sadly i'll probably give it a miss tonight
