Point absolutely taken. Only been shooting relatively seriously for 4 years so DSLR is all I have ever known. It's mainly because I tend to knock it when focusing or zooming and don't realise. Just taking a bit of getting used to but certainly not a deal breaker. It may grow on me like the EVF did.
I swapped to Fuji x-e2 from d800, 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8. I did it to try and recapture the fun of photography again as my bag weighed a ton with all the Nikon kit and found myself leaving it at home. Final straw was lugging my gripped d800 and both lenses round Disney for 2 weeks.
Anyway...
I think your right. No doubt I will adjust and get used to it. I was just playing around trying to shoot my son in the conservatory who was playing with his toys. I was up at 3200 at f1.4 so light wasn't great at all but it seemed to be hunting and missing focus more often than not.
Took delivery of the 35mm and it is great in terms of sharpness and IQ. My Xe2 seems to hunt for focus quite a lot with the 35mm but light wasn't the best I suppose on the test shots. That's the biggest difference I've found since switching from DSLR. Focus doesn't seem to compare on all but...
That's a great image. I don't do a lot of landscape but maybe I will start.
So far I really don't regret making the jump from Nikon pro kit to the Xe2. I'm enjoying the freedom although the EVF has taken a bit of getting used to.
Thanks for your responses. The 60mm is certainly food for thought as I could potentially get the 35 and 60 second hand for the same price as a 56. Either way I think I'll go for the 35mm as a start and see where I go from there.
I sold a 50mm nikon a year or so ago. It seems something like that...
What are people's thoughts about the 35mm f1.4 as a portrait lens? I had got my head around buying the 56mm but I have a home studio which is in medium sized room and my head says the 56mm will be too long on the crop sensor. I wouldn't normally have gone 35mm for a portrait lens but I think I...
Nissin i40 for the Fuji gets great reviews. It's TTL, compact but still has a decent power output. You can even achieve HSS in manual with the workaround below. I've been looking and this seems to be the best option.

I used to work out of Barcelona quite a bit. I used to take my then (Nikon D90 and kit lens). I did a fair bit of shooting on Las Ramblas, the port area, the SF and a lot of the squares. There's a small indoor market about half way up Las Ramblas which is an absolute treasure chest for shooting...
Yes I already have my eye on the 56mm 1.2 for portraits. It's more the practicality of smaller, lighter kit that appealed than anything else. I will no doubt start to amass a few lenses but will spend time getting to know the new format first.
I just sold a nikon D800, nikon 24-70 f2.8, nikon 70-200 f2.8 and SB900 and bought a XE-2 with the 18-55. I wanted to rediscover the freedom and fun of photography. I got too bogged down with obsessing over equipment and exceptional image quality then I realised around xmas time that I don't...
