Clearly a poor selling model as it is still orderable for 899 from Amazon (though Oos). Still considering it as any new mirrorless will surely be overpriced...
Difference doesn't seem to be too great however if you intend to keep it a similar amount of time (4+yrs) as your current machine the newer pro may stay useful for longer. I changed from an air 1 to a mini 4 and the difference is notable. Alternatively you may find getting a cheaper air 2 now...
Mileage will vary regards to build quality but mine had paint wear on the corners , the d pad was temperamental on the left and upward directions and finally the shutter cover didn't always close properly. Got 3000 pics out of it before selling at an exchange place for very little. Will agree...
Just couldn't get on with it. Slow af and pretty poor build quality. As an all in one it had its uses, mostly because of the standard flash mount. Sensor size wasn't enough on its own for me to keep it. I wish I had just got a D3200/3300 instead which I would probably still have.
Be ready to spend all the spare money you have going on trips you don't need to to take photos of things you don't like to justify the cost of your camera gear, hahahahahaha
Another vote for Paramo. Got a green one that is still going after many years. Was a hard decision at the time. Had a few gore tex types that never lasted long. Hated the crisp packet thing and would never go back to anything crispy.
Agree with you both above. Screen is a slight let down and storage is a compromise but it's plenty fast and light. I was comparing a 15" pro to an 11" air. Is a 2012 13" pro retina?
Another slightly off topic thingy is an app called Duet, let's you use an iPad or iPhone as a second screen...
Holiday pirates is great for holiday inspiration, for example, current steals include Mauritius for £262 return and Barbados for £221.
Obviously check fine print luggage etc, but it's so cheap how can you say no?!
You'll be fine just remember its heavy as hell. Any MacBook Air from the last few years will also suit your needs. I tend to use an air about 80% of the time and a 2012 pro only when I need to process lots of images.
