Let's see your... "vintage lenses on modern body" shots.

Just this week (inspired by a bit of sunshine) I thought I'd try my Olympus OM 300mm lens on my 5DIII. I find that the 5DIII, unlike my 5D and 5DII before it, is a bit sensitive to individual mount adapters and either cooperates fully or refuses flatly. This time I was pleased that the two parts...

Good Full Frame Digital Camera for Manual Lenses?

You're asking essentially about my photography habits. Canon 5D original and 5DII have served me very well. My experience has been that the 5DIII sometimes throws an error message to do with not recognising the lens. That same lens and mount adapter work on the older variants without any issue...

    5D comparisons

I well remember going from 5D to 5DII and thinking "heck yeah" this is a real step up. Last year I bought a 5DIII - don't want to spend on a 5DIV and honestly I find some of the ergonomics less satisfactory than the 5DII (I have both on battery grips and pretty much have always done so.), some...

    Refuse Collections.

Down here in Suffolk we have a black wheelie bin for general/dirty/unrecyclable waste and blue wheelie bin for all recyclables paper/card/plastic/metals. There is an optional brown bin for compostables for which there's an annual charge. I don't have one as we have compost bins at home. There...

LP-E6 batteries for Canon 5DIII - OE or what's going on?

The pile of OE and aftermarket batteries I've fed through a gripped 5DII have never shown me any problems. I've had the camera and grip from new and though it's possible that not all batteries have always given me identical life performance it has never been an issue. I recently added a 5DIII...

Eye-fi file transfer: merits or gimmicks?

Well that's pretty clear! Thank you all.

Eye-fi file transfer: merits or gimmicks?

I've recently added a Canon 5DIII to the fleet and UI see it comes with enable-able eye-fi for electronic file transfer so before I invest in a gimmick that might be a complete waste of time and money I'm asking you guys. Is it an easy set-up? Is it a no-brainer gotta do it feature...

Just bought my first full frame!

I look forward to hearing how you take to FF. For me it was a big eye opener and i get no enjoyment from shooting any other digital format. I'd certainly suggest you shoot some frames with your 5DIII before leaping across to mirrorless.

    Nearly a disastrous day!

While my default setting is optimism I don't think I'd be quick to encourage you to tempt fate by doing it again. Not this week, this month, this year. Seriously, if the possibility exists that you might be developing "old git-itis" you might want to develop a new strategy: never taking the...

Canon EOS 1D MkII battery charging

Yup, still using a 1DS 1st gen. Sure it has limitations but only compared to younger iterations. I can put my hand on the charger and the three aftermarket batteries.
