Swap my Nikon DX + good glass, for FX + poorer glass?

I really want to thank everyone for the input so far, given me a fair bit to think about. I suppose I'm in a similar situation to quite a few people where I have almost completely maxed out crop sensor bodies and glass by getting my hands on almost the best DX stuff there is and yet I'm still...

Swap my Nikon DX + good glass, for FX + poorer glass?

This post contains a combination of 'man maths' and requests for advice At present I have a D7000 an a collection of decent DX lenses, however to be honest I'm not using them all that much. For various reasons I have a full-frame FX itch that I need to scratch in order to be satisfied! I...

    Fuji x100

I've just been given an X100 for the week to have a play with... and I'm quite excited! I must admit I'm a DSLR man, but ever since I read about the X10 and X100 I have been very keen to have a go :)

    Nikon 80-200

I find the U1/U2 modes very useful :) As I advised, U1 is for my 80-200 and activates minimum shutter speed and aperture priority. U2 is my landscape/tripod mode, where it selects Aperture priority, F8, ISO 100, and 3 step bracketing with 2 stops lighter and darker. Again, really useful. If...

    Nikon 80-200

Yep. Search "HB-29 hood adapter 80-200" but make sure you search worldwide as the seller is in the US. There's some on there now :)

    Nikon 80-200

It doesn't, but you can buy an adapter ring off eBay to enable this nice little hood swap! It works fully so you can press the hood release button and clip the hood on backwards for storage :)

    Hoods

I use hoods all the time because: In sunny weather flare really does happen and spoil a photo! In bad weather they keep a lot of rain and dirt away from landing on the lens and stop a bare lens bumping into wet coats/bags and getting smeared. At night you still get flare! I left a hood off...

    Tokina 11-16 f/2.8

Same here. Use it on a D7000 and its very, very good. As others have said, it's better than the Nikon equivalent. I find it very sharp, great stars around the light sources in a night photo! I love mine. Oh, and it's built like a bloody tank!! Reeks of quality when you use it. I use mine...

    Nikon 80-200

I have the twin ring version of the 80-200 as you have just bought and also use it on a D7000. I use it to shoot candid people and crowd shots at event for my event jobs. See here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aircooledsix/sets/72157631553217237/ (The DJ shots with nice bokeh and close up...

    D600 - £2000!

Every time I go to buy a bit of camera gear I walk into a high street shop first every time. Jessops, Wilkinsons, etc and every time I give them the opportunity of coming close to the price of an authorised UK online retailer such as Warehouse Express, and only one time out of buying 5 camera...

It was cheaper this morning. It's jumped back up by a couple of hundred now.

    D600 - £2000!

I think I'm going to sell my: 5 month old D7000 Battery grip 18-200 VR Tokina 11-16 2.8 And then see how many pennies I need to add to buy a D600 and 28-300!

    D600 - £2000!

I can well believe that, and I hope you are right. From doing a bit of forum browsing here and there, it looks like an awful lot of D7000 owners, myself included, are itching to pull the trigger on the purchase of a D600, but are just currently waiting for the price to settle. This really...

    D600 - £2000!

All this muttering about what is 'professional' and what isn't is hilarious... It reminds me of this (quite good) video where they compare a D800 to a Hasselblad H4D on a photo shoot and then watch the snobby professional photographers compare the photos, then attempt to justify the Hasselblad...

    D600 - £2000!

Nail on head. Just what I was driving at earlier. The sensor, processing performance and outright image quality will be the essential deciding factor for 90% of people looking at this camera. I would be buying it for the quality of the images and ease of use, not what material it's made...
