    How Many Shots?

It all depends on the subject. Singles frames for stationary subjects, more as the speed of action increases, up to 40 fps for fast sports action, where one match can be several thousand frames. But I don't think the number matters anymore with the electronic shutter and the ease of finding...

What camera could have been used....

@LeeRatters square sounds like my Mum's kodak pocket instamatic, I think 110? She had that from the mid 1970s and continued using it into the 1990s if i remember right.

    Why lopsided

I think it needs to be used with care. I've seen some extremely long pans where it looks great. But if there are clear signs in the scene of what is upright, a wonky angle makes me feel a bit sea-sick.

    Memory Card Stuck

oh no.... I'm not sure about Nikon, on canon there is a little eject button next to the cfexpress slots - maybe try to see if there is one of those?

New Old Digital Challenge - Discussion Thread

Thanks, @lindsay. What I had in mind with 'negative space' is images with unoccupied areas that are just as important as the subject itself. Less is more in a way. It's a style I like, but I'm not sure I have many good examples myself.

Why do photographers lose photos in the field?

It’s good to be cautious, but my own checks were more positive. The DIYPhotography feature is still up, in particular. I also saw the search snippet from DPReview, though I’m not sure why the link is no longer working. Perhaps @NaturEye can clarify?

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

Try custom settings? Alternatively, reconsider, as you mentioned before, manual mode with auto iso as this gives control of both shutter speed and aperture.

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

It sounds like the Canon Fv logic is trying to get the lowest ISO for hand-held static subjects. Try increasing the minimum shutter speed setting?

Why do photographers lose photos in the field?

If you're curious, searching can help. Michel checks out as legit as far as I can see and the survey should provide some useful stats. I'm looking forward to the results.

Why do photographers lose photos in the field?

Hi Michel, I've made another entry for the no-failure case. I doubt I'm an in-between case. I would expect everyone who has had a failure; this has been the exception, and the no-failure case is the norm, but your questionnaire does not capture that.

Why do photographers lose photos in the field?

Hello Michel, I've completed your survey, great initiative! One thought: I've had very, very occasional data loss over the years, like a handful of frames, so I answered accordingly. But I had no way to record the context of that, which is probably a few million problem-free frames. That...

New Old Digital Challenge - Discussion Thread

Thank you very much! I've had a look through the list of prior themes, and a lot of things have covered already... I have an idea, hopefully it will be another fun one

Claude / AI + Ligthroom Classic, PS

AFAIK the Adobe products all expose slightly different automation routes, and Photoshop is probably the strongest in that respect. Lightroom Classic seems more limited, with a plug-in / XMP / catalogue workflow, than a clean “control the Develop module by API” setup. I experimented with...

Canon users -are RF lenses worth the premium for hobbyists?

I wouldn't say the adapter is large and heavy but I see the point - both work well, so if you already have the EF one and you like the size keep it, if you want small go RF.

Canon users -are RF lenses worth the premium for hobbyists?

EF 300 2.8 II... now you're talking ;) The RF 100-300 2.8 is tempting, but it's very pricey, and probably I'd end up mostly using the 300mm, so again, not biting for that one....
