Critique The Kelpies at the twilight hour

Lovely - I haven't seen them at night. The colour balance is just right.

    Glasgow Cathedral.

I really like this - it reminds me of those incredibly dense and detailed engravings from the 19th century.

    Numpties Pictures - VOTES NEEDED!

I assumed it referred to numpties like me who have left their camera at home by mistake and had to resort to a disposable....

    Cycle

I love it - the angles, different textures, patterns of dark and light.... there's a touch of Escher in it. The position of the bike is fine as it is if you give it a different title (but don't ask me what!)

    Hot Hat

You've done a pretty good job under the circumstances - well done! IME ideally there should be a little space under the hand so that it is not resting on the edge of the frame, but you probably didn't have time to concentrate on all the details. I know you want to show the context but I think...

    The 'Face' in the wood.

    Well spotted and beautifully executed.

    Salmon fly (photo) CRITIQUE

I like the strong, limited colours, but would like to see the composition changed so that the fly lay diagonally in the picture frame. IME it would make it more dramatic than the current horizontal position. E.g, try having the hook in the top RH corner.

Need 3/8 to 1/4 adapter for monopod

Hi I have a Giotto MML 3260B monopod where the (male) thread to attach the head is 3/8". I've been using it with a Redsnapper RSH-12 ball head which fits fine. After a while I decided that for some uses I wanted a lighter, smaller head and got a RSH-61/30. However it has a 1/4" (female) thread...

    WSR Steam

I really like the first two but feel the sharpening is a bit too much for the vegetation - it is a bit distracting. You could sharpen on a separate layer and then use a mask to reduce it a little on the grass and trees. It would make the train pop even more.

I washed it and can't do a thing with it !

Really good - perfect focus and bokeh!

Possibly My Best Ever Dragon Shot

"Red leader to base..... Bandits approaching, attacking NOW!" An incredible shot - bet you can win some prizes with this one.

    The woodworkers window

I also prefer the original colour version - it is more atmospheric and draws me in. I like the way the low lighting brings out the diagonals of the bench and the props at the right of the window. If you tone down the blue it will be perfect.

    D200 to D300 ?

I have never used a D200 so can't compare them, but I love my D300, and have no qualms about using ISO3200 if necessary.
