The Tall Ship & Govan-Partick Bridge

I agree with you - I really like the image as it is. You can see plenty of detail, and for me lifting the shadows would only spoil the atmosphere and create a more mundane image.

I quite agree - I was being sarcastic, the lowest point of wit, and easily misunderstood. Sorry.

    Local camera retailer

Now they have mobile phones - small, convenient, always with them, can do stills and videos to be sent immediately to fond relatives - who needs a camera?

+1 for bifocals - I didn’t get on with varifocals at all.

Nifty Fifty Image Thread for July on the Theme of "Time"

A metronome, or musical time keeper: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metronome. Olympus E-P7 25mm, 2 seconds @ F2.8 with low power second curtain onboard flash. Edited to add: Sorry, I’ve forgotten how to add the full-size image, even though I’ve done it before!

    Lighter kit

I’m really happy with it - I suppose if you pixel-peep and compare it with a prime such as the 17mm 1.8, the prime will beat it, but in practice the images look great and I always have it with me on my E-P7. Digital Camera World reviews it here...

    Lighter kit

+1 for a Pen - together with the 14-42 pancake it is light and pocketable. I use it with a JJC auto-open lens cap: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311293550106

    Southwold Pier

Both work well but for me the subtle colour of the first makes it something special.

Thanks - that looks very neat indeed.

GloForce rechargeable lighting for macro and close-up?

Has anyone tried these small lights - https://gloforce.com/ ? We were at a model railways exhibition yesterday and a guy there was demonstrating them. They’re designed for craftwork but look as if they might also be useful for macro, with their various ways of mounting. Colour temperature is...

    Cat's Cat's and more Cat's APITB

I’ve only just seen this old post. I tried the Silent Roar pellets linked above to try to keep next door’s cat from crapping in our garden. They made absolutely no difference, so save your ££s. I have to go out regularly with a shovel and then dump the mess in the dog waste bin out in the street.

    Anyone mill their own flour?

Not as long as that, but it was hard work, all the same. I loved the video - they are tough, aren’t they!
