    Doug Allan, RIP.

Sadly, his 'voice-overs', are nowadays delivered from scripts written elsewhere by other people! I'm sure that given the desire, ability and freedom, his commentary would be very different. Of course, at his age, his reputation is being utilised to 'sell' the directors message. Thank god we...

    Doug Allan, RIP.

Unbelievably sad news! Whilst Sir David Attenborough is the recognised voice of our wildlife, it was frequently Doug Allan that was behind the camera. His footage over the past 40 years, raised the public's awareness to the plight of both our wildlife and our planet. RIP Doug Allan

    Nikon sports/wildlife lens.

If you can only afford one lens, the 180-600 is a no brainer! - However, to get the best from it, you really need a Z6iii, or Z8/Z9. Sell your current bodies and lenses and put the money towards a Z6iii and 180-600 from 'Panamoz'.... You won't regret it!

Recommendations for a new carbon fibre tripod please?

That's still a lot of money sitting on your tripod, so buy the best you can afford. - Take a look at the Gitzo 3 series! If you are likely to upgrade to a larger lens in the future, then go for a 5 series! I shoot with Nikon Z9/Z800 and Z6iii/Z100-400 and whilst I usually carry them on a...

Recommendations for a new carbon fibre tripod please?

No point in suggesting anything, unless you let us know what you want to mount on it?

    Decent camera strap recommendations wanted!

I use a Sun-sniper triple system, with Z9/Z800pf on one side and Z6iii/Z100-400 on the other. Spreads the load really nicely and gives immediate access to both systems. The small backpack is also very useful. I have trekked many miles with this system and find it very comfortable and superb...

    Cotswold and Panamoz

How do you carry your gear at the circuit?

I use a ROTABALL-TPH Triple Press Harness - Z9 with Z800pf on one side and Z6iii with Z100-400 on the other. Leaves both hands free and spreads the weight really nicely.

Wild dogs try to save a pack mate from crocodile

That was one of the most powerful scenes that I have ever witnessed on TV (I have seen similar situations in the wild on many occasions) and congratulations to the camera/production team for capturing/producing it and the BBC, for airing it! To allow the general public to see both the attack...

The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

I recently bought a 'double sling strap' with the intention of carrying my Nikon Z9 with 800pf on one side and 500 f4 and FTZ adapter on the other. Of course, I have now decided that changing lens during wildlife shoots is too time consuming (as well as risking dust/dirt ingress on the...

Wind speed and short eared owls

They have started to arrive at Sandwich Bay now, but high winds will keep them hunkered down. I'm back in the UK next week and will be visiting both locations!
