    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

Half a year in with the R5 and still loving it. It combines all the best bits of my 5D4, 7D2 and EOSR and improves on them all. It's definitely my most fun camera to use since I was using the 1DMk4. Not much aviation/motorsport at the back end of the year but plenty of landscape outings. A few...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

First time pointing the R5 skywards and a good opportunity to give the 800RF it's first outing. I also stuck the RF1.4 tcon on for good measure. 67 images combined in Registax. All shot at F16, ISO400, 1/250sec and 1120mm. Slight crop in post. 95% moon on 01/01/2021. Gary

The above look really poor after downsizing to put on here. Need to have a look at that for future posts. Gary

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

Having given the R5 the big thumbs up for my aviation and motorsport shooting I've finally been able to put it through it's paces for some landscape work over the last few weeks. A small selection from some of the locations visited. Good to test the camera in conditions ranging from bright and...

At the minute it's either just on or off. Canon have already released a firmware update for the 100-500 on the R5 due to problems with mode 2 panning. I'm not convinced the problem is 100% fixed. Cheers Gary

I didn't bother trying the 1.6 crop mode . I just decided to crop in post. I will probably use it when shooting bikes (which now looks like next year) unless Canon drops a R7 before then. Cheers Gary

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

I sort of breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the electronic shutter was going to work for me for the majority of my aviation/motorsport shots. I do a lot of both and can seriously rack up the shutter counts on my cameras. You can definitely see a bit of jello effect going on with fast moving...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

Definitely rolling shutter in the 2nd shot . I included the pic to show what it can be like. I didn't shoot any high iso shots but I can't imagine it's any worse than the EOS R which I found very good. I found the R to be better than the 5DMk4 which was better than the Nikon D850. Fingers...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

    A few random pics. All taken with the electronic shutter and CRAW used. R5 + RF100-500 + RF 1.4 Tcon at 700MM, 1/1250 sec, F11 and ISO800 R5 + RF100-500 + RF 1.4 Tcon at 700mm, F11, 1/1250 sec and ISO 800 Very slight crop. R5 + RF100-500 + RF 1.4 Tcon at 700mm, 1/1000 sec and F10. Into the...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

A bit more R5 info that someone might find useful. I haven't moved to CFExpress yet so am still using the cards below. These cards when shooting full 45mp and CRAW give a buffer depth of 89 shots. I also wanted to test the battery life. So really hammering the camera with multiple long bursts...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

I've taken 10's of thousands of images with the 100-400 Mk2 and the 100-500 is every bit as good if not better with an extra 100mm thrown in for good measure. The 100-500 imo works much better with the 1.4 Tcon attached than the 100-400 did for me. That could be down to the R5 though. I've used...

The R5 was also given a thorough test with some aviation. Once again, everything taken using the electronic shutter, full 45mp and CRAW. Typhoon landing at RAF Coningsby. R5 + RF100-500 + RF 1.4 Tcon at 700mm, 1/1250 sec ,F10, ISO 800. Due to balancing on the top of a step ladder to get this...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

Just back from a week of photography where I really got to test out the R5 in the areas I really wanted to see what it can do. I wanted to know how well the electronic shutter would actually work for the areas of photography where I usually take a lot of photos. I've taken well over 20,000...

5D mk III vs IV - Which one to go for in 2020?

If you look at places like e-infinty and Panamoz you might be pleasantly surprised at the prices. The EOS R + 24-105 RF can be had for a very good price. There will be a lot of mk4's and R's hitting the 2nd hand market in the next few weeks when the R5/R6 starts to ship. I will be replacing my R...
