I think you are getting the expected results, I am constantly amazed how good the images are from the R7 even when making big crops. BUT the best thing you can do is get as close as possible to your subject, easier said then done of course. I have a R7 and a 200-800 and while its an amazing...

Heat haze is a funny thing. It can be there one min and gone the next. And there's not a lot you can do about it - except get closer to your subject These two images were taken from the same place about 2 hours apart !! And yes I'm quite sure the first one was in focus D
