still struggling with flash, just don't get it - do I dump the 3rd party flash or is it me?

Another massive vote for the Syl Arena book. It's the best book I've ever read about flash. Well it was for me; it just seemed to work for the way I understand things. It really was a "flashbulb" moment for me ..... sorry! I use Yongnuo or Godox flashes as well, and I've found them to be fine...

    Hannah Waddingham vs photographer

Surely this is ridiculous behaviour? She's wearing a see-through dress which could hardly be described as modest and is clearly designed to draw attention in a sexual manner. If she had simply declined or ignored the photographer's request then so what? Instead, she chose to use a foul-mouthed...

    MPB

I was reading all the good feedback and wondering if it, might be safe to try them again after a really bad experience I had where they reneged on an agreement they made with me ( nothing to do with pricing or condition by the way ) and refused to honour it and then this. They always seemed to...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

As someone with arthritis in his hands, the main reason I have always avoided Nikon ( even when they were streaking ahead and Canon was in the doldrums - was the weight which undoubtedly goes with increased "build quality" whatever it may mean to anyone. I don't tend to fuss over or...

    Band in small hall

Thank you everyone. There are impressive results. I’m not likely to have my R5 with me as I I want to travel as light s as possible and this gig is only one night of my trip.I will be using the 18-150 and R10 as my main rig during the rest of it. I’m hoping the increase dof in using the R 10 (...

    Band in small hall

Not sure the distance as I haven’t been there, but I know it’s “small” so I’m guessing the FF equivalent of and 55mm and 80mm should cover a fair range? I have the 85mm f2 but it’s probably a bit close. I also have the RF-S 18-150 but thought it might be a bit slow. It’s something I never...

    Band in small hall

Hi all I'm going to photograph a friend's band on Saturday. It's in a hall without professional lighting so not too optimistic as to its quality. I am taking my R10 and considering using my 35mm f1.8 and 50mm f1.8 because they're the fastest I have. Any of you chaps have an opinion on this lens...

    Video head

Greetings all, I've recently tried my hand at a few timelapses and it's whetted my appetite to try some movies. As with most people who shoot stills, I've had a camera with video facility for years. Until now I've never used it but I'm tempted to try some wildlife videos on my frequent trips...

    Buy R10 or 1.4EX

I believe the R5 cropped is 15mp so a lot fewer pixels on the bird. Mind you the 800mm f11 might be another viable option especially as it’s for only occasional use. The downside is space though. Either that or the R7 adds a fair Bit of weight to the bag

    Buy R10 or 1.4EX

Hi I have an R5 and a RF 100-500 L lens. I am happy with this but on occasion I'd like more reach ( of course ! ) Should I stick on a 1.4EX or use a R10 for the occasions I need this? There isn't much of a price difference and although it doesn't have weather sealing or the handling of the...
