I have the MB-D80, so can't comment on the other. I much prefer using the battery grip now, however I have found that the Nikon battery lasts much longer than the non-genuine one (I have one of each). Hope that helps. Bill

When I bought my D80 it came with the grip and I was going to sell the grip as I thought it was too big and heavy. How times change, its constantly connected to the camera and I'm getting used to it. I don't like Marmite. Bill

I sold my DSC-R1 after I bought a Nikon D80. The R1 is a great camera and did produce excellent photos, but did not provide the versatility I wanted, hence the D80. Sorry unable to answer your question though. Bill

I have learned that I took snaps, and still do, however there are photographs in my collection now. Also taking a photo is only part of the whole process, the software processing is the bit I wasn't aware of. Thank you TP for helping me, and for making me want to improve. Bill
