A bin liner in your bag would be a useful bit of insurance.
For really wet weather I prefer a good quality small camera (RX100) to my DSLR.
Much easier to stash it in an inside jacket pocket.
I walk something over 2k miles a year. New pair of boots needed every year.
My technique is to go to Go Outdoors. Budget £100. Buy whatever brand is currently on sale.
As others have said fit is the key thing to get right. Use that slope thing to check toes going downhill.
The one and only time...
What I use for the small stuff is like these.

Useful for loads of close up work and not exactly breaking the bank.
Like others I'm...
I do like a nice church of which there are lots in Norfolk. Most with the same tree problem you have.
My shot would be lower ( get the tree off the roof), slightly to the left (lamppost off window)
and crop close to the base of the post (remove most of the shadows).
One to consider is the walk along the river from St Olaves onto the Island.
Pan flat obviously but with a nice selection of windmills along the way.
Needs a good sky.
Given how cheap storage is I'd always save at 100%. For 30*20 you ideally want 54 megapixels so for sure 100%.
6*4 = 2.16mp so not as important.
The one exception is if I know I'm going to be emailing the image - I usually do two exports with one at the 2 meg setting.
But if I use Opera instead of Edge I get the login page.
Flickr really does suck these days :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Recently I let PRO lapse and now I cannot log into Flickr.
Clicking on LOGIN gives me this link which goes nowhere - blank page.

Anyone else had this ? Workround?
Cheers

For something a bit different you could try Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series.
A nice blend of police procedural, humour and a touch of magic / vampires etc.
He can get a bit PC for some tastes (BBC) but I've enjoyed all seven books.
In Lightroom. Click File / Export. Scroll down to file settings. Storage is cheap and I always export at 100% but the
options are there if you need to save space. Then click the Export box.
