Hello everyone in work as i type so will add avatar at later date.

Im new to this site and photography but seeing millions of great pictures online i wanted to try it for myself.
thats where it has all gone terribly wrong, for months now iv read about a few hundred sites trying to figure out what camera to start with and which was the best for beginners and after months of torturing myself i finally went out and bought the nikon d7200 with the starter 18-105mm kit lens.

Don't laugh but iv had this camera just over two weeks and i haven't got the slightest idea what i'm doing with it... So can anyone on here point me in the right direction?
where to go for lessons maybe or best website to learn?
I want to eventually take up both wildlife and astronomy with this camera but at this moment in time i want to throw it in the bin

Hi William, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums."Enjoy".

Hi William,

You can always have a look out for some local camera clubs. Depending on the club, you might find some people happy to help out a little.

I'm a beginner too and just down in Ayrshire, it just seems overwhelming but a wee bit at a time and things start to fall into place.
If you want to meet up sometime down here, i'll get you taking pics of Nuthatch, tits, chaffinch etc only feet away in a local park.

Sounds good tom24 as soon as i get the basics sorted i'll give you a shout:runaway:

Hi William and as above, a warm welcome to TP.

Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Welcome William. The D7200 does have a lot of menus and options, but don't feel like you need to make use if them all. Start with the basics and work from there.

Hope you enjoy the place, always good to see another Scot on here! :)
