Wasps and a bee from Colombia 2015

Eeek! So well done getting these David.

Were you using a ring flash?
For the potter wasp, I just used the built in flash - that IMHO seems to work well with the Canon 60mm lens. For the others I was using a ring flash which sadly has come to the end of its reliable life.

Interesting. I seem to recall that is a quite small lens. I have an Olympus 60mm macro, probably even smaller. I've never tried using it with the built in flash....

I just tried using it with the built in flash. I was surprised to find that it gives full coverage of the frame even at 1:1. That's useful to know. Thanks.

Will you be replacing it with another ring flash? (I've never used one myself.)

You are welcome, I hope I can come up with a better solution but I find DIY very difficult.

Is the first and third not a bee ? Like them all.
I think you are right, I had so many photos that I misidentified some by mistake. Surprisingly spiders, scorpions and grasshoppers were very easy to get identified - wasps less so and moths almost impossible.
