Just been looking through some photos over the past few years, I really like the ones taken with the Sammy 45mm f1.8, I forgot how good this lens is

I’m always doing that. For me it’s the Z Nikon 50mm f1.8

The Z 50mm f1.8 is a superb lens, however as sharp as it is I actually think I preferred the rendering of the 50mm f1.8 AF-S.

I appreciate it's a combination of light, composition etc but I do really like the rendering of these two shots with the 45mm f1.8. They're far from the greatest shots but I really like how 'real' they look and how my depth/3D they have (to my eyes at least ;))

Some of my favourite woodland pictures were taken with that lens. Unfortunately it got bashed hard, and doesn't work the same now.

If you get a good one that isn't decentred its actually a nice wee lens, probably the best of their Tiny series. I always liked the one I had just rarely used it.

I did read somewhere recently that a lot of people that have had them for a while complain about them collecting a lot of dust.

I sometimes wonder why I bought the f1.2 GM when I was happy with both the Sammy 45mm and 50mm f1.4 II :headbang:

Quite. The thing that the 50 f1.2 has is detail by the bucketful. the Sammy 50 F1.4 MkI is good - better than a Nikon 50 f1.8 (D or G) or an A mount Sony 50 f1.4 - and this is really one of the things that makes it a winner. Plus the miniscule DoF, quick focussing, manually selectable aperture and great build. ;)

You sir are a magician, how you manage to get all that bokeh from the 50 1.2 that spends 99.99% of it's time in a box is miraculous :ROFLMAO:
Izzy Wizzy let’s get busy…let’s all say the magic word…

We went to Whitby today so I took my A7 and Voigtlander 50mm f1.2.

I thought I had to take at least one at f1.2.

I took this one and fiddled with it for the 50mm silhouette thread. This is the not fiddled with one.

I did some panos so I'll stick them in the pano thread.

Price is a bit steep

The more I think about it the more I think it’s not that expensive.

With it being 10mm and basically distortion free and also having a.f it’s probably reasonably priced by todays standards.

It’s $799 plus tax in the states so they aren’t hitting us with a big price hike either. On top of that newly launched product will always have a bit extra cost.

None of the grey places seem to carry much Laowa stock and ordering direct you have to pay tax and import duty.

If there was stock available Inwould probably have bought by now but I hate pre-ordering stuff.

I feel it's pretty good price
Have you seen the price of the voigtlander 10mm f5.6
Given how well this performs, f2.8 and AF I think it's reasonable compared to competition.

morning looking for recommendations on a small compact messenger type bag to use whilst on holiday I need something to throw my a7 plus 1-2 lenses so I’m not having to walk round with all my gear daily. Im only looking for something upto around £50-60 doesn’t need to be new. Any thoughts appreciated thanks

I use peak design sling 10l for this purpose
6l might also work out for you depending on the size of your 1-2 lenses

I typed in "Amazon basic messenger bag" on Amazon. obviously, and it gave lots of choices. Or, have a look on Temu, they have some cheap ones.

Thanks I’ll take a look lenses will most likely be 24-105 and a sigma 35mm f1.4 as they’re what I’m using most at the minute

Thanks I’ll take a look it’s getting an idea of sized more than anything

ONEGenug SLR Camera Bag,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078GMSP6J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I've bought one of these. I've only used it for the X100f and my film camera. But I'm sure you'll fit an A7 body with an extra (average sized) lens in there.

As it's quiet.

I'm impressed with the Voigtlander 50mm f1.2. It's not as good as the Voigtlander 50mm f2 apo but it is sharper at wide apertures than the Voigtlander 35mm f1.2 but I don't know how it relates to the similar 40mm f1.2 I recently sold, they may be very similar apart from the focal length difference.

A7 and Voigtlander 50mm f1.2.

Whitby scene.

We were the only customers in here for quite some time. f1.2. The food and service were excellent but it was quite expensive. Oh, and they forgot to turn the lights out in the loos so going was an experience.

DSC04683.jpg

A little stitch I didn't plan and only spotted just now.

Untitled_Panorama-1.jpg

One nice thing is that when stopped down there's no real need to focus this lens unless there's something close to the camera, just set it to infinity, compose and press the button.

The next time I can get out will possibly be Tuesday with my A7 and Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 :D
