It has been reported that Colin aka "Hacker", a former member and Moderator of TP, recently passed away.
I didn't know him myself, but some of the older forumites may remember him.
Always sad to hear this sort of news.

Colin was always well liked on here. I met him a few times on TP meets as well as at a couple of Polo tournaments, and you couldn't hope to meet a more genuine guy. He spent his last few weeks in a hospice, but he still posted daily on Facebook, maintaining his sense of humour to the end.

RIP, Colin

Didn't he have a horrendous avatar?
Like @Marc i never met him but he always came across well and obviously had a sense of humour.
Sad news indeed.

Sad news.
I remember reading his tutorials on sharpening when I first joined the forum.
Great sense of humour

Oh that's a shame, he was a really decent guy and a strong contributor on the forum. He'd not been around for a long time and I was wondering what had happened to him (

Never met Colin but remember his presence on TP, sad to see another member pass. :(

I did not know him but I remember him on the forum. my condolences to his family and friends.

I didn't know him, but also remember him on the forum. My condolences to his family.

When I first joined the forum I really wasn't sure if that was a true likeness or not.
I never found out, but it goes to show that we can't judge based on appearance.
Take care Colin.
No, it wasn't a true likeness. Sadly, this is the only photo I have of Colin, taken in Camden Town, Christmas 2008, and yes, it was very cold!

I didn't really think so, but back then us mortals feared the mods, and in my head his avatar might just have been a warning to behave....!
On some forums it's wise to do so....

Regarding Hacker's avatar.....

It's a pretty classic and well known image in the vein of Diane Arbus.
I knew it was a famous photo but had no idea about the story behind it - a fascinating read, thank you for posting it!
